My daughter has really damaged dyed blonde hair. She wants brown hair but I heard it usually turns green over the blonde so are going to test it with temporary, do you know any good colors that usually doesn't turn green in dyed blonde? We can't get it done professionally I don't have the money right now. Any advice would be helpful

Thanks manonbly
Yes this is the same girl, if she hides the orange when she puts it up. We will test a small piece I guess and see how it turns out. She's getting fustrated of having her hair up every day and wants a quick fix. Very impatient

I myself like the blond hair. Most of the dyes are permanent.
The rinses might turn it green.........
solution for that....20% volume bleaching peroxide and shampoo.....then it will be copper colored! I say leave it alone or change the color of the toner to a darker shade.

Hi, I have been reading your posts for several days now. Is this the same daugher who had a section burned at a salon due to a metallic base? You must tell people this! You must do a test strand prior to putting ANYTHING chemical on her hair. I know she is tired of the upkeep but she is going to freak out going dark if she is used to being so blond. I personally could not see the orange section. IF the hair does not react to a no ammonia, no peroxide color then you can fill the hair first and then apply the brown tone after. This is a big deal. I understand you are short on cash but this is a major color correction. I would not leave this up to chance. So I keep looking at her picture and I am perplexed. Why exactly did someone in the salon specifically say there was a metallic base somewhere? I am asking because that usually means Henna or a realitive of it like Natural Instincts. BUT I do not see that "cast " in the photo. Metallic bases usually look a bit "gold". I am now not certain 100% that was the problem at the salon. My hunch is now that is was THEIR overprocessing, overlapping or too strong of a product. This is good news for you. Still do the strand test. I think you are going to have a few more options than I originally thought. How dark does she want to go? Let me know and I will talk you through it AFTER the results of the strand test. Best of luck.

your daughters hair is very beautiful now, but anyways stay away from the dark dark brown hair dyes. I have dyed my hair with a dark dark brown and it ended up green. I suggest a light brown, then three months later go to a little darker brown, then another 3 months later she can dye it dark dark brown if she would like.

Take baby steps when dying from light colors to dark colors.

good luck!

Brown should work just fine over the blonde. Just be sure to avoid colors that have the word "ash" in their name...Basically, ash tones have a green hue, as opposed to warmer, reddish tones.

You might want to start with a darker blonde to begin with...Let her see how she likes it, as it darkens a little more slowly.
