Most pre-loaded retail PC's have a 'hidden' partition on the hard disk that allows a complete reload = with DELL's it's 'CTRL F11' during power-on.

Check the documentation that came with the PC (or go on-line & chech the Acer users group) -

Forget System Restore. Do the following. Reboot your computer and as it is rebooting look at the screen for an F key which will be F19, F10 or F11. Take note of it. Next Reboot your computer BUT before it completely reboots PRESS the F KEY that you took a note of. You may hear a high pitched sound. This is ok. Next keep pressing the F KEY down and a blue screen will appear. Follow the on screen instructions. If this does not work then PRESS CTRL and the F KEY together.and follow the on screen instructions. Do NOT sign up for a different Internet Service Provider. One of the outlined methods works in XP and all other computers and as Vista is M/soft it should work

If there is no Vista disk it probably has a system restore copy of Vista in a partition. You probably press a function key to restore it - boot up and for 1/1000 of a second it will tell you which one! LOL Try them all on boot up - start with F10 and work your way across. You could type Acer 3680 into Google and go to their website - it's in Chinese. Google will translate it in to English - but it still not helpful. But try it anyway!

you will desire a duplicate of the domicile windows OS. Any finished version will do. or you need to use yet another laptop to obtain a loose Linux OS. there's no way around this in case you have the desire to make it 'like new' returned. once you install domicile windows, you will then would desire to replace drivers on your soundcard, video card, modem(s) and something it might desire to desire. those can oftentimes be got here across on the manufacture's website. do no longer delete each thing with out replica of domicile windows or you only won't have a working laptop or laptop that applications. in spite of what person 'uncle billy' says.... you will desire to have an working equipment so as to run different application. a working laptop or laptop only won't run a application with out 'equipment to tell it the thank you to function'. stable success :-) To Lumper35: Sorry yet until you have a tricky force with 18 million GB loose dispensed area, there is only no way you may equipment fix returned 3 years!!!!!!!!!! LOL! you made my day ;-) replace: in case you haven't any longer have been given any viruses, secret agent ware or something messing the laptop up. Then only uninstall all your very own classes that your brother won't desire. bypass on your My records folder and delete all that is in those folders. freshen up the icons on your laptop. And WHALA!!!!!! only like-new!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
