I think a better question is, why were we ever there in the first place. War should only be initiated for the most noble of causes. Bush lied to the American ppl. They had no WMD, they had no ties to Al Qaeda. And now, billions of dollars later, and countless lives later, we are stuck there so America can save face by completing its flawed plan of creating (forcing) democracy in the middle east, which will most likely collapse within a year after we leave anyways. The sooner we get out, the better.

The reason we are still there goes back even before the first war in iraq.. If we get out of iraq now before they have a stable government enough to control their borders from outsiders and protect themselves, whose to say all the other countries won't march their military staright in there and take over the oil fields and it's bad enough that they still control most of the worlds oil. But if we just pack up and leave iraq we are basically just handing it to them and we will be in a position that is not so good..Another reason is what the news keep reporting, things there are alot better now that we have done alot of cleaning up. There was places in iraq where no one was outside walking around. but now they are staying to enjoy some of the basic freedoms we have here, and not worry about being killed for it...Hussein was just the beginning for something much greater.. Ask some of the military people about weather they think we should come home or stay there? And most will say that they know they are making a big difference over there. but the news will never admit to that or even show it on tv.

The U.S. and its allies have been building up an actual Democratic government and have already trained and equipt 1/3 of the forces the generals thinks Iraq needs. 2/3 of the troops need further training and or equipment before they are turned loose. The President of Iraq says that should come sometime next month.

We are in Iraq because the mission is not complete. Of course, with democrats in control, we will leave with our tails between our legs and to hell with the mission. That's what they did to us in Vietnam and Korea. Democrats are too cowardly to actually serve in the military and they resent those of us who did have the courage to serve so they show their cowardice by not letting us complete the mission.

Apparently, you missed the latest and greatest expression of our mission in Iraq. Iraq is now a central front in the war on terror, if the US leaves it will become the terrorists training ground.
