I know, it's an odd question. I have a son and a daughter, so is 10 and my daughter is 13 (ugg!)

Anyhow, they both love to go on airplanes and go to airports. Does anyone have any great airports that they may just love that are in North America?

Thanks!

P.S. Does anyone know what the best airlines are?

I fly for a living and for pleasure and have seen more airports than I can count... My favorite terminal in the entire United States is the Northwest terminal in Detroit... You get to see several 747's... The neatest fountain I have ever seen, a really cool underground tunnel with a light show on the walls, an amazing indoor tram that takes you the entire length of the terminal and you can look down on all the people... its a great airport...

And if you are going to fly to Detroit, try to get a lengthy connection in Minneapolis, (Both are Northwest hubs, so flight availability should not be a problem). While in Minneapolis, be sure to visit the observation deck (located above Terminal D) Very few people know about it, and its sort of hidden, but as soon as you get into the small Terminal, look to your left for a set of stairs... I have never seen more than 3 other people up there at any given time...

Atlanta. I love the monorails and sidewalks. They could play in there for days and not get bored.

If your kids would like to learn a lot about aviation. Then I suggest a visit to Maryland's Prince George's County.

Prince George's County is the home to the world's oldest continuously operating airport, College Park Airport. The Wright Brothers taught flying lessons here in 1909. It's also home to the President's airplane, Andrew Air Force Base. It was also home of the nation's first African American owned and operated airport. The Columbia Air Center was established in 1941 by John W. Greene. The county had the first U.S. Postal Air Mail Service. Also, it was home to the first Army Aviation School, established at College Park Airfield (Airport) in 1911 with five planes and four hangars. In 1959, the Goddard Space Flight Center was established as NASA's first space flight center. The Nation's first recognized, controlled helicopter flight occurred in Prince George's County. It happened in a demonstration to the Navy in 1924 at College Park Airfield (Airport).

United terminal in O'Hare - lots of open space and light and high glass walls, and the underground connection is full of neon and spacey music.

United terminal in Denver - cool neon light sculptures, historic planes, interesting shops, a train that connects the terminals (sit in the front and watch the little windmills go around as you approach--what the heck are they there for?), ice cream and fudge shop, little gold "fossils" set in the floor to symbolize Colorado's association with paleontology, and the view of the mountains from the big windows at the end is nice.

If you have time, go over to the B terminal and there is a really great restaurant/sports bar that serves albacore burgers and yummy homestyle potato chips.

For airlines fly with JET BLUE. They have TVs and radio and they are really fun. My favorite airport is Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) Northwest has their largest hub there and I have transferred there a lot of times. It has a nice terminal and layout. I am 13 and I LOVE Pittsburgh which is a big US Airways transferring airport. They have about 115 shops and restaurants. You could be entertained there for hours.

OMG I am from Charlotte! Did you know that Charlotte is the second largest banking city in the US? But let me tell you, after visiting many other cities, Charlotte is completely different from any city in the US. The only way you can understand is if you come and visit. :)
