I haven't lived with airconditioning since I was a baby. It's not usually needed where I live. I do notice that when I'm in a car, office, or home with A/C for any long amount of time, I often develop a sore throat. I'm going to be moving to the desert soon where everyone has, and needs, airconditioning nonstop for about 9 months of year. Does anyone know if there are any health risks associated with this? Thanks

It is not unhealthy as long as the unit is clean and you change the filters regularly. It can have health benefits such as filtering the air and making the air cleaner than if you had the windows open. (This depends on where you live and the environment around your home.)

if it's too cold. you have to keep it at a temperature that is comfortable for you. if you don't need it, then don't use it. everyone has a different level of tolerance for how cool the air is; of course, in a public space you can't control it, but in your car and home you can control it--try to keep it as low as you can stand.

i don't think it's harmful to your health beyond a sore throat and maybe a cold. just try not to have it turned up so high that it causes that result.

not normally but if it dries the air then that can cause sore throat, head ache & nose bleeds. the only important damage is if you have it 24/7 then you gonna have hell of an electric bill
