Refried beans are stewed, mashed, then reheated! Typically, 'refried' refers to Pinto beans, but according to Wikipedia, black beans count, too.

Not really but cooked twice
soaked - - boiled - - mashed in the fry pan with some Lard or your choice to fry some you can add some spices???

Actually they aren't fried at all. The name comes from a poor translation of the original Spanish name.

no you usually let beans simmer until they're soft and then you squish them with spoon/spatula and fry them in a skillet.
