I just went through the samething two weeks ago and had 3 pulled. Oil of clove is in a little glass bottle and is sold at any pharmacy. That stuff is gold when it comes to numbing them quick! It isn't dangerous to use on your teeth and as for other remedies i'd check webmd.com on those. Good luck hun and I feel so sorry for you, I hate having my teeth hurt. Get well

Oil of cloves or Clove oil is a traditional treatment also the active ingredient in Anbesol a topical dental pain gel available in any drug store. You can always find it in the baby aisle since it's used a lot for teething babies. The gel is easier than the oil since it clings. Just make sure not to get it in your eyes - ouch!
Cost is about $6-10 a tube which should last awhile.
I had a dental emergency years ago w/no money or insurance and used it along with a do-it-yourself temporary filling kit (again at the drugstore) and it got me through till payday to see a real dentist.
Best of luck. I wish you relief. Pain like that is no fun.

The reason why a lot of people suggest Oil of Cloves is because it contains a substance called Eugenol, which has an anesthetic effect.
Dentists often use materials that contain eugenol, such as root canal filler paste, temporary cements, sedative fillings, etc.
While Oil of Cloves can be used for temporary pain relief, it does nothing to address the root caus\e of the problem. One should definitely visit a dentist for definitive treatment of dental problems.

I have heard that it worked, but I have never tried it myself. Generally if you can find a herbal store in your area, that is going to be your best bet on finding it.
From wiki
, also known as Clove oil, is an essential oil from the clove plant. It is a natural analgesic used primarily in dentistry for its active ingredient eugenol. It can also be purchased in pharmacies over the counter, as a home remedy for dental pain relief, mainly toothache; it is also often found in the aromatherapy section of health food stores. The oil produced by cloves can be used in many things from flavoring medicine to remedies for bronchitis, the common cold, a cough, fever, sore throat and tending to infections. Its country of origin is India.

Ouch! Clove oil definately works and unlike ambesol you can use it as many times as you want. I have used it and found it effective until I could get to a dentist. You can buy it at any pharmacy-go to the pharmacist counter and ask for it-it is used in candy making and I have found most pharmacies carry it in the back. Also, you may try to bite down on a childrens aspirin when it gets really bad. I feel for you and good luck!!

You've already done a lot of things that are more effective than oil of clove. I suggest you call the doc and tell them that you need pain meds to last you unitl Monday. They will probably require you to come into the office for an emergency visit to get the script if you haven't been seen there before. Dental ethics require it.

Oil of clove is one of the active ingredients in anbesol and orajel, both for tooth pain.
You can also try Arnica, this is a homeopathic medicine and probably considered the best one for dental maladies. Obtained through health food stores, etc.
