I have seen multiple references from religious fanatics (all of whom are Christians) asking "Why are Atheists here?" or "There would be less bickering if all the non-Christians left."
People, the name of the section is Religion & Spirituality. Can you open your eyes and see that there are more religions than Christianity, and also that people don't necessarily need religion to be spiritual?

A Christian USA: Thank you for proving my point. If you want a Christian forum, go to some other site. This is a section for ALL Religions (and lack thereof).

Agreed! They ask "Why are atheists here" all the time. People, we're here because you force your beliefs on the rest of us in politics, entertainmetn, schools, etc. And then when we stand up to counter it you get all huffy and give us the "you don't believe in god so it's none of your business". It becomes our business when you keep shoving it in our faces!!

When I first came to this site I wondered why Atheists are here. Now I know that they have every right to be here. The only problem is that some of them can really "hate" the Christians, persecute and make really horrible comments that have nothing to do with the question just for the fun of it. I believe this site is for those seeking religious and spiritual dialog and support and information. As far as Atheists being attacked, there are a few Christians/religious people that say derogatory statements. The biggest attack you get is a whole page of scripture which I am sure is annoying. I think it is totally fine for a christian to reply to an atheists comment and include scripture with their answer, but long rantings of scripture are out of line. It actually annoys me, and I'm a Christian. If a person is here just to hate and argue, they have no right coming to this site and are not welcome. So, if you want to join the dialog and you're not a hater -- welcome.

I have often wondered this same thing! I keep checking, and it does NOT say the Christian section. Just like they want Christian beliefs taught in public schools. They think they are the only religion anywhere, apparently.

Excellent points. Thank you. There ARE other religions and spiritual paths in the world, apart from Christianity. And if people decide that they don't want to (or cannot) follow any of them, then that is their choice. Unless Yahoo puts membership restrictions at the door of this forum, then I don't see any reason why it should not welcome everybody -- regardless of their background and beliefs.

Some (Christians in particular) seem to be afflicted with tunnel vision. Since they believe that they "know" the "truth" they really don't see why anyone else should be allowed to post anything else. Sad.

I think it's great that all the Christian fanatics are here on Yahoo! Answers. That's so much better than the fanatics of some other religions who are off hijacking planes and blowing themselves up.
