Sin is a magical word for evil to give the church more authority over you. No sin here, I don't buy into that brand of crazy.

Its all relative. According to Christians, being a homosexual isn't okay regardless of what religion you follow. Christians believe that everyone will be subject to the judgement of their God, not just the ones who follow him. I think that Islam also condemns homosexuality, and I'm assuming that Judaism does too (that's just an educated guess, by the way, so I apologize if I'm wrong).

An Atheist would not leave the question of homosexuality up to religious doctrine, but make a decision regarding it based on his or her own morals.

Um no. Whether one believes it or not homosexuality is a sin.

From an essay I recently read:

" The biggest issue on the agenda of the gay rights movement today is “gay marriage.” Gay rights activists may push for it all they want, the government may even eventually start recognizing “gay marriage,” but none of that will change that fact that “gay marriage” is an oxymoronic phrase that can never truly exist. Homosexual sex is sterile by its very nature (it is basically just a masturbatory act), and sterility is incompatible with marriage, because the purpose of marriage is procreation. This is a key fact which modern society has forgotten. “A legislature can no more turn sodomitical unions into marriages than it can turn dogs into cats; it can only unravel the institution of marriage by sowing confusion about its purposes” (Budzisewski).

A lot of proponents of “gay marriage” claim that homosexuals deserve the same rights as heterosexuals. The fact is that they already have all of the same rights! Homosexuals have the right to marry in this country; the condition is that they have to marry someone of the opposite sex. “Gay marriage” is not a civil rights issue, despite what gay activists want the world to believe. A civil right is a protection of freedom based on a birth trait. To compare homosexuality with something like skin color is to compare apples to oranges. “Skin color cannot be compared to a behavioral pattern. No one is ‘born that way.’ This is no ‘gay gene,’ as science has repeatedly indicated” (Budzisewski). Yet even if the evidence is wrong, even if a man is born homosexual, committing homosexual actions is still gravely immoral. “As a young man, I could claim that I am genetically wired to desire premarital sex. Some men claim to be disposed toward incest or child molestation. But just because a person has certain desires, this does not mean that it is moral to act on those urges” (Evert—131)."

Edit: As far as I know Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and even Buddhism have problems with homosexual tendencies.

As a Christian, of course, I think it's a sin for everyone. I don't think God limits His judgement just to Christians.
But I don't think Christians have any right to try to tell anyone else how to conduct their private lives. Christians, of course, want to try their best to live their lives to please the Lord we love. Of course, we think that the rules we live by are good rules, and that people would be much happier if they, also would learn about Jesus, and follow Him, but I don't think that is ever going to happen.
The conclusion of the matter:
According to atheist's "rules" I would say that it would be OK for you to be a homo. Why not? Atheos certainly doesn't care what you do.
Of course, if you should happen to find out one day that the Christians were right, don't blame them. After all, we have been trying to tell you.
God bless you!!

The condemnation of homosexuality is not limited to Christians because because Moslems and Jews follow the same writings.

In fact, the Bible says one reason God destroyed palestine and gave it to the Jews is homosexuality. Read these versen in Leviticus 20:13

"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them."
Leviticus 20:23: "And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them."

Also, Paul tells us in Romans that that sin also caused the destruction of the world by flood in Noah's day.

As I read the Bible, and God's judgments against transgressors, I realized if I invent a religion to please my conscience, then IT IS ONLY MY RELIGION. But if I want to comply with God and receive His blessings, then I must adjust my reasoning to match His Word.

That is why you can not accuse Bible-following Christians of homophobia because their attitudes memic the Saviors.

The natural law is inscribed in every human heart. Instinctually one knows it is wrong but is ignored That is why it was so secretive before but know that truth has now become a lie and is accepted by society as a whole thus more and more people are free to admit and come out of that secret. The fact that it has become more prevalent and accepted does not make it OK. The truth of God is unchangeable

Yeah, basically. Technically, practising homosexuality is a sin according to Catholics, but homosexual orientation isn't. Church of England believe that having a partner/cohabiting with him/her is fine too. It's the Evangelicals that believe that homosexual orientation is a sin, and is unnatural, but they set up things like Encourage to 'cure' their homosexuality.

But very basically, yeah, you're right. If you're an atheist, religion doesn't hold against you. Other people do, but your morals won't.

Hope I helped!

Fairly certain it is a sin in most religions definitely Judaism and I'm sure Islam. Sin is not simply for those who believe in God. God's law is for everyone in this case ignorance is truly no excuse. If you get technical about it Christians are free from the law though by faith made righteous and therefore not following sin.

Homosexuality was the one sin for in which God had to destroy a city. Because of the sin had become so wicked and these people would not turn to God for help, they became defiled as their affections and sexual desires came to the very sin of homosexuality and judgement came because the land had to be cleaned from this wickedness and it is going to happen again. People including homosexuals who will not turn to Christ will continue growing more defiled in their behaviour toward God and man that God is going to send forth plagues on the earth just as he did in Pharoah's day in which he lost his firstborn son because of his disobedience to God. This time period is called the great Tribulation which will last for seven years.

You should probably not be using the derogatory term.

Homosexuality is exactly as evil as heterosexuality. It hurts nobody; it is not wrong.

Homophobia, on the other hand, does hurt people, sometimes resulting in murders.

Most religions treat sex in general, and homosexuality in particular, far more openly than the abrahamic ones, especially the christian religion which relies on the guilt mechanism.

Not really. Traditionally, Jews and Muslims believe it to be a sin too.

But you're technically wrong anyway. It is NOT a sin to be a homosexual. It is a sin to HAVE SEX outside of marriage and/or between same sex partners.

A celibate homosexual has not sinned just by being a homosexual.

It's kind of like just "being" a heterosexual is not a sin, but HAVING heterosexual sex outside of marriage is a sin.
