To damand that lawmakers pass legislation to allow us to drill for our own oil in Anwar and anywhere else we find it in America or at the very least I think this should be allowed to be voted on by the American people-WE ARE THE PEOPLE AND WE SHOULD HAVE A VOICE!! How do we bring it about?

You are going to have to remove from Congress the democrats, go look at the votes for opening up new areas for exploration, the democrats are not allowing this to happen.

Additionally, they are the ones who voted against new refineries, we have not built new ones in the USA in over 20 years.

We have adequate resources if we can develop them, we have adequate pipelines if we had product to put in them and refineries to send the product to.

Want change, get rid of the socialist democrats in congress, it is your only hope.

unfortunately we as a nation have fallen into the trap our very first president george washington warned us about in his farewell address; not to place the party or the personalities above the nation and its crucial interests to not just survive, but thrive.

Today's US political landscape has people more worried about the party than the issues or the candidates themselves. Too many people will vote for a 'bad democrat' to avoid voting republican or vice versa. The major parties keep telling us what they are against and less often what they are for. People seem to be voting more often as rejectionists, against a candidate because they don't like that candidates stand on a certain issue. This is highly detrimental to the long term issues we face as a nation.

It is time for the people to retake control of their nation. We are a government for the people, by the people. It is time the American citizenry exercise their revolutionary tendency by voting at the ballot box, not for a party, but for the best candidate, the best ideas and the best for our great nation. It is time to vote for the crucial issues are country faces, the best candidate (not a certain party) and the best solutions.

I already exercised my opinion and future vote by joining unity08.com and highly recommend others in our nation look into it as an option to undermine the special interests in favor of the national interests.

The fact is that most Americans do not want us to drill for oil in Alaska. This has been shown again and again. The small amounts of oil to be found there are not ogin to help our situation. We need some leadership in Washington that can help direct us in a major conservation effort, and in expansion of wind & solar energy. Since our Govt is currently bought & paid for by the oil industry, it is unlikely to happen. Thats where we need a grass roots effort IMHO.

We have to start a campaign, in the press, on TV, and especially the Internet. We have to hammer the point home before its too late.

Grass roots efforts are a myth. In point of fact, every such effort has had a massive political machine behind it.
