On March 23, 1863, command was given to Richard S. Ewell.

Feeling that Jackson was irreplaceable, Robert E. Lee actually split the 2nd Corps into two new corps, commanded by Richard Ewell and A.P. Hill

a man co got it right. At the time of death Jeb Stuart took over, but the 2nd Corps was split as a_man_co said, prior to the Gettysburg battle.
