I have an honest question about the new deal that was worked out today. In the articles I've read, they say that illegal aliens that step forward can get a "Z" visa, pay fees and $5000, to get "on track" towards permanent residency. What incentive will there be for people to voluntarily come forward? Does this new agreement also include stiffer penalties for those who choose not to? Will any of this actually be enforced? I'm not trying to sound opinionated, I'm just trying to comprehend how they think something like this is actually feasible.

There are no triggers for enforcement against those who don't come forward and register for the Z Visa. It's time to clean house in D.C. Anyone that votes for this piece of crap legislation needs to be tossed out onto the street on their collective butts in the next election.

Funny how people here cry that they don't have 3 cars like "the mexicans", or call the immigrants uneducated or illiterare, but then make spelling errors in their own language. I am an entrepeneur, I own 2 businesses, It has been my experience that the immigrant worker is far more responsible and loyal and hard working than most of my American workers. Some of my immigrant employees work longer hours without complaining, don't have to "go camping" in the summer, don't call in sick because they wake up with a headache. Some of my immigrant employees work more than one job, and yes they pay their taxes, and yes they deserve to have 3 cars and enjoy family time with their people. Many of them own their own homes. I have developed long lasting frienships with many former employees who went to school and are now in better jobs or some open their own businesses. We must ALL remember that the USA is a nation of immigrants, NOBODY here is American, we all came from some part of this world. The only true AMERICANS are our American Indians.

They have lip service which won't let them apply for permanent residency and won't let the new guest worker program start until certain pathetic triggers are met. One is an employee ID system that is supposed to be the end of the problem. The other is half of the fence they already signed into law in October. Any other part remains to be seen.

I am not saying I am even slightly deluded that this will solve the problem, I am just repeating the party line.

This is the governments way of granting amnesty at tax payers expence,Illegals dont want to be citizens they want a free ride,WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY BECOME TAX PAYING CITIZENS WHEN THEY CAN LIVE OFF THE GOVERNMENT FOR FREE AND BE UNACCOUNTABLE FOR?Honestly this is a disgrace to our veterans and our kids fighting in Iraq. This is not feasible,EVEN IF THEY BECOME LEGAL CITIZENS THEY ARE UNEDUCATED LAW BREAKERS,How much will that cost Americans when they still recieve government benifits? I would gladly grow my own fruit instead of buying it from the supermarket and take the chance of getting a disease,What is wrong with people!

Lol asking an illegal immigrant to step foward and follow the rules isn't the way they got into the country is it? And they damn sure didnt pay anything. The only thing that works is the same thing that always works, recognition of neglect, enforce laws on the books before you keep making new ones or how else will we know they work to begin with?

Legalization is the incentive. The people here without status generally want status, but don't have any avenue to legalize. In addition, they are often trapped here because leaving would impose a 10 year bar to reentering (even if they DO find a sponsor).

The details are in the find print and you can bet it will accommodate the illegals that seem to have the hearts as well of the minds of the Congress that put their care and feeding over the middle class Americans that support this country with their tax dollars

It isn't feasible...Just like in '86 it will be water under the bridge and people will continue to get away with hiring illegal aliens and illegal aliens will continue to cross the border without hindrance, just like today.

Nothing has changed, except that it looks like they are wanting the rest of the middle class to be extinguished.

I can't find any differences that will made in the US, except that the fraidy-cat illegals will pay the 5K, leave, and come back. Trouble is that the illegals are not one bit afraid.
CANNOT WAIT TO VOTE IN '08.
