Just cut my 16 mos old hair last week. Put him in his high chair and give him a book or a toy that can keep him busy for a little while. Ask some one else to hold his head (not so tight to make him uncomfortable and make him move even more) When it comes to cutting the front part of his hair, make sure you use your fingers to hold the hair and the scissors as far away from his eyes as possible. Don't forget the before and after photo! Good luck!

What worked for my hiper little boy - I got a sticker book (Wal-Mart). Then, when we go to the haircut joint - he gets a couple new packs of stickers. He spent his time putting all the stickers in the book - and on him - and on me - and on the lady cutting his hair. They're used to kids and know to go fairly quickly. And children's motor skills aren't great at that age, so anything that takes concentration - will take a long time (like the stickers).
Just remember the first time - don't worry so much about how nice it looks. Make it a good experience for him or you'll really have a hard time next time.
Give him a sucker or snacks to have while in the chair.
Blow bubbles, give him a cool new book that he'll enjoy.
Good luck.

It's definitely going to be a 2-person operation. We buzzed my son's head with a #5 guard at 7 months. I have 2 suggestions, first do the back first, because that is much harder than the top (because of the neck), he won't be upset yet so if you do it fast enough you can knock out the hard part first. Second, before you do it have him see AND hear the razor. I think the sound scared my son more than the act of cutting it. My husband will pretend to cut our son's hair now every time he does his own so he gets used to the sound and feeling. Now he is OK with it.

when my son was 14 months old he wouldnt keep still , so we put in his favorite boombah dvd and he would sit still enough to watch the dvd to get his hair cut ..it still wasnt very even cause my son is a wiggle worm...okay my son is now 2 and even worse now then he was then lol ....we are so frustrated we just shave his head lol thats the only way we can make sure it is all the same all over..you would be suprised all the toddlers at daycare with shaved heads , or also known as a buzz cut ..i guess having the wiggles during hair cut is common lol 4 baby boys

My son got his first haircut around 14 months. I thought the same thing, but he did great and surprised me. I think that hardest thing is finding the time of day and the right person to cut it.

Check in your phone book to see if there is a kid friendly place where you can take him. In these kid friendly places, they play movies or cartoons, sometimes they have chairs that allow kids to think they are on a ride. It's amazing how easy a hair cut goes if the child is glued to the TV! I am not a fan of TV keeping a child's attention, but in this case ... I AM FOR IT. I had to find one for my oldest daughter, when she was that age! Its pain free for you and the child.
Do you know anyone who can cut hair? Have them come to your home, again, put a movie in and cut away!
GOOD LUCK!

When my son was little I did his haircuts.
He wouldn't sit still either until I finally put a cartoon or movie in for him to watch.
So, we would do the haircuts right in front of the TV. I just put down an old sheet and stripped him down to his underwear and got it down as quickly as possible.
Worked great!!

Ours was the same way when he got his at 12 months and about all I can tell you is to take him to one of the kids places. It's probably not going to keep him still the whole time, but with enough distractions it might at least keep him still long enough for quick cut.
Short of tying him and gagging him up it's about all you can do I think.

Take him to a hair dresser and have him sit on your lap. Make sure that the hair dresser is fast but good and have your partner keep the baby busy with toys or a story or anything that will keep his attention. I brought many toys for my baby and it worked great.
Good Luck
