well in my state it actually is....it's a misdemeanor but no one cares about it obviously or there'd be a lot of people in jail.
also in my state, it's illegal to live with someone you aren't married to for more than 2 weeks....but again, not enforced because it's STUPID.

IT DEPENDS because the Church does teach that sexuality outside of marriage is a capital sin because it violates the purpose of human sexuality to participate in the "conjugal act" before one is actually married. The conjugal act "aims at a deeply personal unity, a unity that, beyond union in one flesh, leads to forming one heart and soul" (Catechism 1643) since the marriage bond is to be a sign of the love between God and humanity (Catechism 1617).
The basis of many Christian views comes from the idea that human sexuality was created by God with the twin purposes of procreation and intimacy—bringing a sexually active couple into a close emotional and spiritual relationship through the close physical relationship. As such, it should be restricted to a lifelong relationship between a man and a woman. Marriage is a commitment to a close and lasting relationship and a basis on which to build a stable family. Because of the emphasis on the procreative function of sex, relationships and specific acts that do not lead to conception are frowned upon or expressly forbidden in some denominations. However, most Christian denominations now accept contraception within marriage.

Against the law? No. From a Christian standpoint, it is wrong. But it is also a choice. It should not be against the law because it is not a crime that harms anyone (not physically anyway).

No ! Sex is a natural part of being a well rounded and happy human being. What differance does it make if you're married or not? Marriage is just a way that religions try to control people by making them feel guilty about things that come naturally to people. Religions are the biggest problem in the world...Period ! ( Catholic priests that had sex with children weren't married )

That would be great. All single people could have the sex police in their bedrooms as permanent guests until they get married. No it should not be against the law. What next, make it against the law to not attend church every sunday?

No. God gave us free will to make our own decisions. What is good for God is good for the law.
From a parent's standpoint I think that premarital sex is wrong. There needs to be more "committed virgins" nowadays w/ all the STD's and aids etc. but especially because I think it is important to be pure before God and pure before your spouse.

Christians can talk about sins or acts that the religion does not condone.
That is different from something being legal.
This is the difference between political systems rooted in islam and political systems rooted in judeo-christian beliefs. While religion may influence decisions, a law is not based on religious teachings, in political systems rooted in judeo-christian beliefs. However, in political systems rooted in islam, the answer to your question is strictly in the religious writings and the clerics' interpretation.

no, God gave us the gift of free-will to make decisions. He will judge us when our time comes. WE are not God, it's not for us to judge!
Pre-marital sex does not hurt anyone the way murder or rape or robbery does, those are crimes.
Hey CSI ~ check out CNN, a 17 year old girl was just publicly stoned to death (videotaped) in Iraq for falling in love with a boy of a different religion... so it's not just in biblical times, still happening now!

Religion and law should not mix.
It is a sin, period.
Now from a birth control standpoint and a desease control standpoint maybe it should be against the law.

There would be a whole lot of people in jail........
At one time it was a law the F word came from police officers when they would write on their tickets For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.
I'm sure in some states it still is agianst the law, it just isn't enforced.
