What do you do about the guy who won't agree that water is wet simply because he didn't say it first?

Ask him how to win an arguement against him, and when he responds "you can't" laugh at him and tell him that you just proved that he doesn't know everything, because he doesn't know how to win an arguement against himself.
Then back up before his head explodes becuase of circular reasoning! haha

Yeah, I work with a lady like that. She is what I call an old hippie. She thinks she knows everything about everything. Anytime you mention anything (even if you are not talking to her) and she doesn't agree, up she pops to give us her "expert" opinion. She has voiced her opinion about everything from science to religion to global warming to cooking and she speaks as if she a genius expert in every field. What I found that works is that I ignore her, I put on my head phones even if she is in the middle of a sentence and don't pay any attention to her at all. This has been quite effective.

Just don't let it get to you. We all know people like that the best way is to not argue with. Because no matter what you say you will never win an argument with those type of people. No matter how right you are.

it is not enough to ignore them, you have to ACTIVELY ignore them, that means looking at them in the eye and not saying anything....or just say ok, or whatever you say....walking away implies they win, deciding to just not argue is another thing and very effective for me
