My boyfriend and the mother of his child have a good relationship. They discuss things about their child, etc and thats fine with me but i found it kind of bothersome when i overheard him giving out advice to her about a child that is not even his. She is married and i just kind of felt like thats something she should be able to talk to her husband about or the father of that child! He says it was just friendly advice but i still felt a little uncomfortable with it. Am i over reacting? should i even be worried about it? just need some thoughts on it.

You're not secure in your relationship with this man - for any number of reasons - his child, his ex-wife, etc.

Rethink your situation - ex-wife, stepchild, co-parenting, etc. etc. Maybe you're not ready for this kind of relationship - and all that it involves. Maybe you should cool it and find someone with considerably less baggage to handle. It will become YOUR baggage if you marry him.

It's OK - but understand that even if you love each other, you may not be ready for him.

Well, if She wanted tips, then I guess it's okay. But still, it's a little bothersome to have the 'You're-not-raising-him/her-right-do-it-my-way-I'm-a-certified-saint' type around. I wouldn't follow his example unless it's with someone you know very well and you know that they won't be mad. It's just easier and it means that less feelings get hurt in the end because someone thinks you're a bad parent. If he keeps it up, you should tell him that he might be making her uncomfortable and that he should chill out a little.

I think its ok to give the advice, it it's asked for.

What I would not tolerate is advice in night, meeting her for an upset child and so forth. There, I would put my foot down.

ok

It sounds to me like they were just having a conversation and the child came up. I wouldn't let it bother you. Everyone has an opinion and he was just giving his on this topic.
