sybil, do not the norplant, pill, and shot all prevent a fertilized egg from implanting int the uterus? The do not stop ovulation, so the egg could certainly still become fertilized.

abortion is a legal medical procedure whereby a blastocyst, embryo, or clump of cells/zygote is removed from the uterus.

that is all it is, nothing more.

it doesn't need to be reconciled with beliefs -- another person's beliefs are irrelevent. they need to mind heir own business when it comes to the personal medical decisions of women or other people.

xians simply need to STOP HATING OTHER PEOPLE!!

liars will say other stories, but there is no intact nervous system at this point of an abortion whereby pain can be sensed by the mass of cells being removed. claiming such a thing is utterly ridiculous and uneducated. an abortion involving a fetus is EXTREMELY rare.

Sadly, most women could not tell you how their birth control works. Then they get ticked when the doctor doesn't specifically tell them! (How can you take a medication or use a birth control method without asking what it does to you to keep you from being able to get pregnant?!)

I use a "pill" like method of hormone augmentation (if you will) which keeps my ovaries from releasing an egg (because my body thinks it is already pregnant). I also use condoms.

I don't have to reconcile it with any beliefs, as I'm not necessarily against abortion. Actually, I'm 100% pro-prevention of unwanted pregnancy. If that happens through prevention of implantation (which I don't consider abortion), I think that's great. It's the later months that I'm not sure about. I'm really not sure how I feel about abortion (which I feel requires removing an implanted fetus or embryo from the womb.)

None of these cause an abortion after an egg is fertilized. Maybe the IUD does, come to think of it. So take your pick of the others. I am infertile so I don't bother with any of them.

Norplant, the shot and other hormonal methods cause the woman to in essence go into menopause and not release the eggs. Condoms and diaphragms prevent to joining of the egg and sperm. The IUD makes the uterus inhospitable to a fertilized egg.

Every one who doesn't believe that abortion is murder needs to watch the video on the link Joshua put up. OMG! I seriously got sick. We definitely need to make it illegal. IT IS MURDER! Those were real babies. Hun, I would rather see you on birth control than see you do what those women did to their babies. Those babies & the parts of the others should have been handed to their mothers after & they should have had to pay for their funerals. I saw the faces of each of my 3 beautiful grandsons on those babies. I'm amazed there are idiots out there who think those babies don't feel themselves being ripped from their mothers.

The IUD.
I could never have an abortion because of my religious beliefs and because it's a horrible thing to do.

I believe none of the above are permitted by God. The sexual act is supposed to be an act of total self-giving to the other person (your spouse). When you use contraceptives/ have an abortion/ etc. you're saying "I give some of myself to you, but not all." How is that love?
