he does have difficulty when i comes to playing baseball. doesn't catch well, his swing is weak and so is his throw and he's a big boy you'd figure he can hit and throw with power.

well i would not stress, take him for a check up, and speak to the doctor outside of his ear shot, but my guess is it is nothing, his age is a clumsy age, but if it makes you feel better, just don;t let him be aware why he is really going to the doctors

Hi!
You should ALWAYS listen to that little voice inside that tells you something really could be wrong. At 10, he should be more coordinated about shoe tying and scissors. These are skills most kids master by the time they're 5 or 6.
Go ahead and have him checked. Better you should aggravate your husband than miss a problem early detection can help.
Good luck!

I do think you need to talk to his doctor about this issue. However, you should do it without your son being in the room. You dont want to give him a complex. You should be able to call your doctors office and request a time to have a meeting with him. Just the two of you. Your husband if he wishes! But definately dont take your son. Do it while he is in school so he doesn't suspect anythings going on.

Address your concerns with a pediatrician without the child present.
Then when the test are run you and the doctor (who hopefully understands discretion) can refer to the tests as "A physical" or whatever...as to not give the kid a complex.
I wouldn't make a huge deal over it...but I would have it looked into without making the child aware of your concern.
If there is something wrong, catching it early on could do wonders in righting the situation.
Men can be pig headed and very passive when it comes to preventative medicine.
Ignore your husband.
If your child can't rely on at least one of it's parents to watch out for him then who can he count on?
Good looking out mamma...do what you gotta do...just do it discretely without alarming the child.

To HELL with what your HUSBAND thinks. Your CHILD is MORE IMPORTANT. Make an appointment with your Pediatrician and explain what you have noticed. There are several test that could possibly be done. Get your child the help HE DESERVES while he is still a young man/boy and tell your husband to grow up and start thinking of his son instead of what someone else might think or say.

I would encourage you to make an appointment with a Pediatric Developmental Physician. Unlike a regular pediatrician, he/she is specifically trained to look for abnormailities in development. This could be something easily remedied with some Occupational Therapy.
Best wishes!

I volunteer at my kid's elementary school, and a lot of the boys don't have the best fine motor skills. I would still take him to a board-certified pediatrician to be sure.

Try googling 'dyspraxia.' Did your son also ride his bike late and have a hard time catching or batting a ball?
