Hmm, hard to tell without you giving us an actual situation.
I'd say if things start to feel awkward at all. From you or from him. That would mean the mood has been ruined.
Or if things were going great, and then you or he said or did something, and then things weren't great anymore. That would be a very clear sign that a mood has been ruined.

When the guy drives an hour and some at 11:00 at night just to come see you and go to the movies and sit next to you but when he gets their you change your mind and say no Id rather just drive around town and oh yeah julie wanted to come to just hop in the back of my dads minivan cuz my cars at the shop (julie gets the front seat.) You drive around for an hour and barely talk to me take me to your parents restaurant and has her crazy cousin come over and talk about how shes dating this crazy war veteran she met on all these crazy online sites. And then you finish it off by taking me back to my car where I say peace and dont look back and drive another hour or so home. That will straight up kill the mood, but a few signs in general are if the guys just sitting their like WTF mate, or if you brought a freind thats a given. Or you said something lame when you just shouldnt have said anything at all and that beautiful silence and feeling that you dont need to say anything has turned into an awkward uncomfortable silence. Whatever just dont pull the get in the back of the minivan routine and youll be ok.

when all of a sudden the other party wants to leave and they suddenly feel uncomfortable and are moving away form you and moving around a lot and the tone in there voice is down or they are staggering a lot of things can show that you have made the mood go down hill.

this is funny cuz 4days ago me and my bf was doing it after i orgasm..for some reason i really wanna use the restroom...he was so upset and telling why am i doing that...lol and the nxt day he didnt call or text me at all.....i didnt even get mad or question him for not calling me....and i guess that makes him more upset...lol but it turn out that he was upset cuz of that nite....lol and he told me we will never do that again(sex)...i said thats fine and the more he gets annoyed...lol
