Good question. Although many religious and pro-life people will just say it's wrong, because it's prematurely taking a person's life away in a violent or non-violent way (example - poison or overdose on drugs, etc) and that the person who does it is a "evil", sad and pathetic loser, they never tend to think "outside the box" on this particular subject. Although, I (and most of us on earth) prefer not to have our lives taken away be someone else, I can't help but look at a murderer with neutral eyes. Perhaps it's the Fates at work I often wonder. Maybe we have no control over which one of us is going to be born with a personality that has the desire to kill people and which one of us is going to be their victim(s). Most to all of us are taught from day one in school about crime and punishment and the consequences afterward,...but still a minority of humans still and WANT to kill other humans. No one really has a definite answer or proof on why. Scientists can delve into the criminal mind, but they still won't be able to give the public a straight answer. It's like asking why we need to die at all, whether through natural or violent means. Human life is just so complex here on earth. All I can say is to try to do what I do - Question everything about human life. Become a scholar and consider perhaps everything that happens to each of us must be for a apparent reason. Our lives here must have a meaning...

First of all, humans are the only ones for whom it is called murder.
Second, there are human cannibals who can't even understand why anyone would kill for anything other than food. How screwed up is that? How much worse are we than cannibals, because we are a society in which murder is comparatively rampant?
Thirdly, for many animal species, there is a rare occurence of murder. Wars for territory, especially in famine, yes, to be sure.
But when there is a contest, a personal battle, usually, the loser will offer his neck in surrender, and the victor will sniff him, then turn away.
Maybe if we hunted and killed for food, rather than sat at desks and toll booths and whatever all day, we wouldn't feel the need to kill.
Now, ask me about the death penalty.
As far as my morals go, even THAT is wrong. There were studies published that "proved" that the murder rate goes up by 8% for two weeks in any area in which a Capital Punishment is publicized.
That had better not be MY son who's one of the EXTRA 8% of victims!!!
So, we should outlaw even that.

It isn't, sometimes. It is wrong when we recognize that the other person is just like us, with the same feelings and just trying to live as we do. We wouldn't want to die, so we don't kill. Sometimes, killing another human is necessary. If the other human is threatening your life, or the lives of others, killing him/her may be the only way to save your life or the lives of the others. Some people can not be allowed to live in society; since we lack anywhere to exile them to, they must be killed. There is no such thing as a moral absolute, wrong and right are more malleable than many believe them to be.

I think it has to do with the fact that you are taking the life of another without their choice or consent. You are thereby taking away their freedom. You are acting as God in making the decision of who should live or die based (usually) on facts just surrounding your own personal opinion in a matter that always turns out to be more trivial than actual. IE - drugs, cheating, robbery....
Because you are making a permanent choice for someone else when you have no right to do so.
The only way I would ever consider it okay, would be self-defense...

Because everyone has the right to live their lives. When it all comes down to it all we have is life and good health and it should never be taken for granted. To purposely take that away from someone (and their loved ones) is the most horrible thing you can do.

Personally, I think it all depends on why. If the guy is some crazy serial killer then yes, do away with him. Now, If it's some averge typical joe, why kill him? Even if he did something to you. I only think you should kill people IF NECCESSARY! So yeah. I guess its wrong because this person was living and you only live once. So, It's only wrong if they didnt do anything. =)

Because we are here to learn, and when someone is brutally murdered, this person looses the change to learn and evolve in a spiritual way.

I think it's OK if you do kill in self defense or defending those you love. Otherwise, I enjoy my life so who am I to deprive someone else of theirs if they're not trying to hurt me or the ones I love?

I don't feel I have the right to decide if someone else's life is worth living.
