find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

For the entire first week of your diet, measure everything you eat. I know it sounds silly. But it will help you get the idea of what 1 serving of milk or juice or pasta or pizza should look like. You'll get the hang of it after about a week or two and you'll begin to notice when you're over-eating. It would be extra helpful if you kept track of all the calories you consumed daily for the first two weeks. I would even go so far as to write down what you ate, when you ate it, and how many calories it contained. I did this for my first two weeks of dieting and it really helped me see where I could cut corners (for example, drinking lots more water instead of so much juice, coffee, and tea).
Also, what has worked for me is having LOTS of healthy options in my fridge and pantry. Stock up on different fruits and veggies that you enjoy. Some of my favorites are bananas, blueberries, pineapple, strawberries, carrots, celery, and cauliflower.
Also, if you absolutely love bread (like I do), Western Bagel Alternative Bagels are a great snack to have around! They're delicious (taste just like any other bagel) and have only 110 calories. You can top it off with some strawberry cream cheese...only 45 calories per tablespoon. :)

Most women actually starve themselves when they try to diet. That creates depression, lethargy, and a lot of random cravings for stuff that is horrible for you.
First stop, go to www.spartfit.com and find out what your daily caloric needs are.
Then, divide this into six meals, with breakfast lunch and dinner taking up 2/3 of the calories, and the other 1/3 divided over three snacks. Try to eat every two hours from breakfast (don't skip breakfast!) until dinner.
Stick to lean meats, vegetables, seeds and nuts, some fruit, some starch, no sugar.
And you can make some great meals with that stuff. Last night I had broiled chicken breast with herbs and seasoning, steamed asparagus, brown rice and a glass of milk. Whole thing was maybe 450 calories and tasted great.
If you use high volume snacks (carrots, celery, apples) and drink a bottle of water with every snack, you'll rarely feel hungry. In fact, you might have to remind yourself to eat every two hours because you don't feel hungry yet.
Oh, and go through your kitchen tonight and get rid of everything that isn't a lean meat, vegetables, fruits, or heathy carbs.
Good luck!

What are your "trigger" foods? (The things that are sooo good to you that they're actually bad for you.) Once you identify those things, and the reasons WHY you eat what you do when you do (many of us have emotional triggers, such as boredom, depression, etc. that contribute to our binge or over-eating) then you will have a better idea of how to avoid those things. Changing your diet alone will work after a fashion, but it is much better to add exercise to your weight-loss program to speed results. Burn 3500 more calories than you consume and you will lose one pound!

If you stop thinking of it as dieting and start thinking of it as a new way to eat that can help. Also, really make the commitment to yourself that you are worth the effort it takes to be healthy. Getting healthier is at least as much mental as it is physical.

Exercise and cut down on calories, eat lots of veggies and fruit. Most important of all, don't give up, be patient, and when you do get to your desired weight, don't go back to bad eating habits because then you'll gain it all back. Make good eating habits a life choice.
