You know what? I had the same thing with running. For the first couple of weeks of running, my legs were KILLING me! But, I kept with it, and now that it's been 3 months, my legs no longer hurt. I literally woke up one morning and they were fine! Don't me ask me how, but that's how it was. Your legs will eventually get used to it. To ease the pain now, do lots of stretches before and after your workout, especially on the legs. It'll loosen them up before you work out, and keep them loose afterwards too.

I make sure to do stretches before I exercise. It really helps and I find that I'm not as sore the next day. Regarding your "burning sensation" I had a similar problem. I couldn't use the treadmill and was told by the trainer that I have a shin splint and that's why the side of my right calf hurts. I used the elliptical instead and surprisingly my calf didn't hurt. Maybe you have a similar problem?

You're probably overworking your leg muscles. If you've only been at the gym for that month and a half, try to start at something lower like running on the treadmill or bicycling at a moderate pace and resistance. Elipitical machines are tough, especially if your legs are out of shape.

hmmm, I can stay on for 50 minutes with no problem, BUT I stretch. You may want to stretch for 5-10 before getting on. I would also suggest that you choose the "random" mode that will allow you to fluctuate the levels.

Good luck!

good grief, this isn't rocket science!! listen to your body and do what it tells you. When the burn starts, go another five minutes and then stop for Pete's sake. The amount of time you can do it will increase slowly and safely. Ignore the burn and you risk permanent injury.
