You are right, most of them have a human face as an avatar, and Homo sapiens is an animal. So is my avatar, even though it is alien and probably fictional.
But most theists also have animal avatars.

We do that to express the freedom of our thoughts and in some cases our love of nature and animal. Actually my ID is the words for two natural objects.

Many religious people think homo-sapiens are above all other primates and other animals, giving them right to treat these animals and their habitats as they see fit.

I've had a lifelong interest in natural history so usually I choose something from the animal kingdom.
