No. We are gaining ground against believers every day as science reveals the mysteries and plainly lays the truths of the universe before all men. Every day I come across another person who, when they hear of my atheism, reveals they too don't really believe but keep pretending for the benefit of their intolerant families. We are a far larger "minority" than once thought and we are growing. With every mind opened by the likes of Richard Dawkins, Stephen Hawking, Sam Harris, and, to a much smaller extent, myself we move one step closer to dispelling the myth of God and freeing the world from the largest cause of war and hatred. I am a proud Atheist and until my dying breath I will fight the hatred and intolerance religion so often fosters. We are fast approaching the day when the halls of power are filled with rational thinkers who don't use fairy tales as reasoning for legislation. Can I get an AMEN!

Let's look at your question in a different way, beginning with "right or wrong." This is an example of the logical error of bifurcation, referred to as the "black and white" fallacy, bifurcation is the presentation of a situation or condition with only two alternatives, whereas in fact other alternatives exist or can exist.
Further, you assume that there is a war between atheists and "believers," which is not actually the case.
My own particular view is that since there is no conclusive evidence for the existence or non-existence of God, the "war" is a tempest in a teapot.

you have it thoroughly backwards. The history of religion is a history of bloody persecution. this is the secular, liberal concepts of the enlightenment that have produced present day liberal democracies, the place you're loose to have any faith or none. How has your freedom of religious expression been affected, precisely? Please provide examples, via fact i do no longer see it. aside from the outlawing of hate speech against homosexuals and different minorities, this is. actual you will discover those regulations are just about conserving others from the very persecution you declare is directed at you. relax certain, I and maximum different thinking atheists completely help your rights of religious expression, mutually as insisting on our actual to particular our very own critiques. you haven't any longer something to concern from atheist majority government, which seems to be like a protracted way off in spite of everything.

They're the minority in America, but you must not be paying attention if you think it's a losing battle.
Atheism now dominates the majority of the free world, and has made more progress at destroying the religious right in America in the last 2 years than anyone ever thought possible.
America will be a secular society within a couple generations.
You'll understand when your grandchildren explain why religion is a load of dingo's kidneys.

In the US perhaps- in Europe the opposite is true. Christianity has largely been rooted out of society and it's a non isue for most people.

You should go to europe. They're definitely not a minority there. My fiance lives in Denmark and there's about 1 church per town and hardly anyone goes.

We can always hope for our fellow man's love. It is, however, wise for outspoken skeptics to remember Socrates's fate. The truth seldom is endearing.
