WHY is it.... that the most serious attacks on the credibility, integrity and stability of chrsitians and their beliefs (their faith).... come, from surprisingly.... other christians?
I'm not speaking of differences in opinioin concerning (valid) doctrinal debates.. (as scripturally even the disciples argued over such things, i.e, when they argued over circumcision) or of condemnation of heresis within the "church" (such as, 'there is no hell' - 'you can pray people out of hell' - 'only a certain number of people go to heaven/can be saved'- ' we can become gods'- 'creation itself is god' or 'jesus and satan are siblings' and so on) these ought to be condemned.
But i'm speaking of when christians (who are by all means seriously screwed up anyways lol i should know, i am one) begin to attack the reputation and 'witness' of other christains, who.... are supposed to believe in the same God, and same Lord, and preach the same gospel?
Does anyone else notice that as well?

So, in my thinking.... if you are attacking another christains reputation.... about their beliefs.... calling them 'seriously screwed up'...... if you believe in the same God and Lord and doctrine.... doesnt that make you JUST AS screwed up?

I'm curious.... for any "non-christians"..... is this kind of hypocracy and immature behaviour the main turn-off to our faith? I'm serious here. Because i'm very disgusted with the whole thing.... are you?

And for christains.... do you honestly think that that kind of immature behaviour and slandering (which, IS AGAINST SCRIPTURE, IF YOU READ THE BIBLE).... is going to influence people to WANT to know God. Do you honestly think, that you'll win anyone over to the cause of Christ, when you are slandering and attacking those that believe as you do?
It's probably the reason that nobody with a brain wants anything to do with christianity. If i weren't already saved.... i wouldnt want anything to do with God or church or jesus seeing all that kind of nonsense. I mean, grow up already.

And, to say this to other christains..... as a matter of maturity...... how dare you? Do you care that little about the eternal destines of those you are influencing? Do you not realise, how IMMATURE and SELFISH it is.... to attack the credibily and integrity and witness of ANOTHER CHRISTIAN..... IN THE PRESENCE OF NON-BELIEVERS!?!! I mean, are YOU SERIOUS? You are accountable for the words that come out of your mouth... and do you honestly think, that those non-believers will be influenced by YOUR testimony of Jesus, when you havent the decency, spiritual maturity or common sense to put a muzzle on it and your personal 'vendettas' in the presence of the unsaved... slandering another chrtistains testimony?
You have got to be kidding me with this?!
Do you care that little about where those 'unsaved' friends of yours are spending an eternity, just so long as you can exact your 'revenge' on somebody you dislike?
You've got to be stinking nuts!

And to those that are 'unsaved' .... you know.... the 'non-christians' .... who don't beleive in salvation or what Jesus has done for us... for whatever reason you have chosen not to..... may i offer an honest, sincere apology to you for the stupidity, and immaturity and hypocracy that you have seen in the church. If i were you, i probably wouldnt want anything to do with it either. Please dont let immature, ridiculous hypocritical 'christians' influnece you to hate God. Really.... i am a christain and i love the God that saved me.... but for real.... this seriously makes me angry. How stupid can people be? I understand that we are all human, and that regardless of our spiritual beliefs and religion... we can all make mistakes and do wrong...... but you know, i have a serious problem with the 'church' and other believers right now. For THIS kind of nonsense especially. Cut me a break already.

IF you are a christain, or at least call yourself one..... well good lord, GROW UP ALREADY! Don't just read the bible, DO WHAT IT SAYS!!!!!!
Loving others and walking in mercy IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING... more than anything. How can you be a christian..... and totally NOT understand that?
I am serioulsy upset and angry over this right now! It's RIDICULOUS!
Don't you know that walking in humiltity, and loving others and being compassionate.... is like, JUST AS important as following the ten comandments. OR do you like, pick and choose what laws to follow?
Jesus said, "Love your neighbour as yourself. Love does no harm to its neighbour. Therefore Love is the fulfillment of the Law." (Romans13:9c-10). This refers to your WORDS as well.
And its NOT just 'laypeople' i'm angry with.... it's pastors, and teachers and worshipleaders & sundayschool teachers... that for all the knowledge in your brain you demonstrate NO KNOWLEGE of the love of God. GROW UP. Like, as of yesterday!

NO WONDER NOBODY WANTS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE CHURCH. I don't anymore - and i've been a christain ALL my life.
**((I've seen this done to other christians as well as having it done to me recently))**
But just as an FYI, a rule of thumb, and a DOSE OF COMMON SENSE FOR YOU..... if you trash the reputations and beliefs and character and 'testimony' OF other christians... making fun of them and calling them all sorts of junk and making a disgrace of them..... DUH that MAKES YOU JUST AS MUCH OF A DISGRACE - AND WHAT YOU BELIEVE JUST AS STUPID.
These are your fellow beleivers--- and maybe you didnt read the scripture where Jesus said, "So in EVERYTHING do to others what you would have them do to you." (mat 7:12) AND "...Whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." (Matt 25:40) .... WHAT THE HECK DO YOU THINK THAT MEANS?
or maybe its just because these people are not really christains... and THATS WHY they are so immature?

LAST THING (i know this is practically a novel) ..... I'm speaking of the destruction of a christians reputation BY another christian; not correction or discipline, or a rebuke.... or even a dispute on a doctrinal issue. Im talking severely immature, unwarranted, unnecessary, completely irrelavant, idle talk and slander... just for the sole purpose that the one does not like the other.
I have experienced it, and i have seen it done. Ah but yes, i have the maturity to NOT entertain that kind of thing.
Yes, this was all just venting - but a serious question-- do you see this as well? And whats to be done about it? It HAS TO STOP. How do you teach grown-ups to GROW UP?
and old stuffy self-righteous hypocritical christians... to knock it off because its ungodly?!! its making a disgrace of the faith!
I'm trying to remember that we all make mistakes, but good lord enough is enough already!
All i'll say is thank God most high im not a pastor.

.... being corrected i can deal with - i never get angry; and usually gossip i ignore... not everyone is going to like you. so get over it.
But...... being trash-talked (about my faith) OR seeing others trash-talked about the faith, BY those who are supposed to believe the SAME darn thing -- makes me want to vomit.
its so unchristlike and immature.
We have all been talked about, and no one likes it; and i find you cant be angry at everyone for talking garbage, because we've all done it atleast once... but i mean for real... enough is enough already.
let non-christains hate me, that i can understand; but christians? get a life already

And im not just railing over something that just recently happened to me.... though IT IS mostly why i asked this question today; but it makes me sick. Do you know I had a friend totally fall away from God due to this same kind of thing that im speaking of, happen?. They were a new christain and so on.... and these other 'so-called christains' were like a pack of ravenous wolves and totally tore this person apart (slandered, gossiped, called this person mentally messed up because of what they believed) and so bad in fact, that they no longer wanted anything to do with the church.
I dont blame that person for how they feel, im about ready to call it quits myself, and yet, that breaks my heart so bad - and enfuriates me that it came from CHRISTIANS. what crap. what total crap.

My opinion....
1) A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Many of those Christians who attack other Christians' testimonies have taken Scripture out of context, or do not know its connection to the Word as a whole.
2) They have fear, perhaps, from listening to so-called religious experts without researching Scripture themselves, and not listening to the real expert, God.
3) The enemy/satan is "out to steal, kill, and destroy" so could he not be using this Christian chaos to destroy the faith of many?

Yes, I've noticed exactly that kind of behavior. I am a practicing Roman Catholic Christian. Among my non-Christian friends and acquaintances, my Faith is completely a non-issue. Some people are curious about what I believe and why I believe it, but they are always respectful.
The response of other Christians, however, runs the gamut from pity to disgust to outright hatred. Complete strangers have called me a devil-worshipper and an idolator. In college, I was turned away from organizations like Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. People tried dilligently to "save" me from my certain trip to Hell earned by being a devout member of the RCC. A few Christian acquaintances have been respectful and curious, but they are the minority.
I'm not sure why this is the case. It's probably because their pastors or ministers are telling them every bad thing they can think of about other denominations/faiths to keep their numbers up. People tend not to go out and investigate these statements for themselves; they assume they are hearing the unvarnished truth. I always try to respect other people's beliefs; I wish more people would do the same.

Your concern is, of course, legitimate. I hope you are doing your best to help 'fix' that problem and not let it get you down or turn you away from Christ.
If you look to man [YES, that means us Christians] to show you how a Christian should act, you will be disappointed every time. Look to Jesus, and nowhere else for guidance on how to be His follower. That is not meant as a wholesale excuse for Christians to act like jerks, just that people will let you down.
We are ALL hypocrites at one time or another. ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. To see God's glory revealed, look to Jesus.

Not so, because, like other religions, Christianity has many sects of people.
Some are extremely unintelligent (Like, god is killing to soldiers because of the gays...riduculous), while others are more like the hippies (Peace and love, man).
So, in the end, yes, our beliefs are the same...for the most part. We're just a little different, is all, just like everyone else in the world.

Repent could also propose to re-study. I now check out issues otherwise. I re-study how I could stay my existence. Is it mine to stay as I please? certain, it truly is a form of innovations transformation, yet we are all responsive to the pejorative slant getting used contained in the previous question (which i assume caused this one). The pejorative version calls for that we by no potential question, by no potential have doubts and continuously behave a particular way. How unusual that I unquestionably have by no potential considered 2 Christians precisely alike. we've diverse personalities, likes , dislikes, presents and fears. it truly is surely * needed * that atheists proceed brushing off us with such words, lest absolutely everyone start up pondering us in the slightest degree credible.

Lots of pride...everyone wants to look super spiritual. Plus everyone thinks that if so and so had some experience why didn't I ? Besides, most people don't even really believe what they say they believe. Mental assent all the way these days. It's hard dieing to ourselves, so we don't do it. We don't see any growth either. All pride, no faith.

From what I have seen on Yahoo Answers, the most serious attacks come from atheists and agnostics and the far left who don't come into the R&S section to help, but rather to persecute and attack Christians and all others for their beliefs and moral values.
Dennis Miller had it right last night when he said he departed the Left Wing in America because of their utter intolerance for freedom of religion and free speech. He finds much more bigotry and hatred and meanness on the Left than on the Right, and that bothered him a lot. He was sickened by it.

a great many who claim to be "Christian" are not... and many who genuinly think they are, are not.... All who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His free gift of Salvation. those become part of The Body of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head. Those are the ones of The True Christian Faith. Only those of The Chruch will enter Heaven.

Honestly....No one on this earth has all the information on who really is our god, or what really happened back in the days of the bible, or how the earth was really created. So there is always going to be changing stories on these topics for the rest of the years that earth still exists. People believe what they are taught and what they feel. There will never be a time when everyone on this earth will agree to one thing. So believe what you want to believe and be happy. Dont waste your time worrying about others. good luck!

Because Christianity is dogmatic - it's just that nobody can agree on the dogma. But it intrinsically supports the notion that there is a definite standard of "righteousness" to which all people in all circumstances must adhere. Hence every cult of Christianity believes that it was "The Way," and that all others are deluded insofar as they disagree - even on trifles. You can be told with all due gravity that you're going to burn in hell forever because you've omitted to believe in the Trinity. Etc.
