up that belief? I mean of course legitimate religious text, not "fiction" that has woven itself into the legend like Dante's Inferno or Paradise Lost.

There is no biblical text to back it up.

This theory came from several extra biblical sources that are usually attributed to visions from God. Ellen White (SDA) profitess claimed to have a vision about this, but it was later found that she plagerized the works of another man who claimed to have a similar vision. Joseph Smith (mormon) created a completely different doctrine from the same source, and also claimed that he had a visit from and angel to certify it.

There is no text backing the apologetic assumption that "Lucifer" was an angel. That idea did not develop until the late Medieval Christian period (during which Dante wrote Paradise Lost).

In the Bible (Isaiah 14:12), the "morning star" ("lucifer" in Latin) simply referred to the king of Babylon. It's a parable about vanity.

O.T.) It was the women that didn't have this "free-will" that man, with the gaping black hole in his thinking, have no way to understand. Man always had free will, simply by brute force, the woman being the weaker vessel.
Women were treated like cattle, merchandise, men owned women - they did not have "free-will", or freedom to choice. They were used like "puppy mills" - the male child would be scooped up as precious (only males were counted in population counts), and female as more cattle, to do what they (men) wanted with. It was "Hell" for the female gender, so they understand what "free-will" means.
So the "angels" that never had free-will in the old testament, are woman.
Lucifer, the angel of light, is brute beast man of course, who took what they wanted, when they wanted it.
The reason Lucifer is called the angel of Light is because men ruled over the Law or Government.

I am not aware of any scripture which says angels did not have free will, nor that only satan did. As you said, that comes from Paradise Lost.

When you read the Bible, you can see that satan did have the ability to make a moral choice, and he suffered the consequences for it. That is the definition of "free will".

"Free will" is a term you will not find anywhere in the Bible. It was invented by theologians to describe a principle they saw in scriputre. So there is no scripture that states angels do or do not have it. But there are scriptures that show them acting with free will.

There is a difference, however, between the angels and human. Angels were designed to be servants, nothing more. So when they fall, there is no redemption offered to them.

Humans were designed to be "sons". So they have not only the ability, but the right to make moral choices. In fact, God wants them to make such choices because it is only by those choices that we grew to understand them.

Any of you who have ever had children understand that you do not present all the facts of sex to them when they are three years old. They are not yet ready to handle that information. But they are designed to grow and mature until sex becomes an important, pleasurable, and often necessary part of their lives. Something they could never image at three years old.

When God placed man in the Garden, he intended for them have the knowledge of good and evil. How else could they understand the concepts of love, goodness, caring, right....

The problem was that man had some growing and maturing to do before he would be at the age in his life to understand and handle good and evil. Like a child needs time to mature before they are ready to understand and handle sex.

But man seized that knowledge before it was time, and was damaged by it - like a child who is molested at three would be damaged by that experience. The child's whole life would probably be colored and marred by the experince. So man's whole world has been colored and marred by his sin.

So God offered for man a way of salvation. Man was designed in such a way that he could accept it, grow form it, and be better because of the whole things.

Angels were not designed to be able to grow or improve. So they would have gained nothing from a "salvation".

Hi, this legend is nothing more than a legend. When Lucifer fell and became Satan he took a third of the angels with him that also chose to rebel against GOD, Rev 12:7-9. GOD didn't create anyone without a freewill. That would go against HIS very nature as HE is love, 1Jn 3:16. ~GOD BLESS YOU AND LEAD YOU INTO ALL TRUTH~

You don't next need specific text. Did you know that Lucifer is not a name in the Bible? Satan is the word God uses for the fallen angel of light. (it means the enemy) A lot of things about angels are Jewish folklore, not backed up by the Bible.

If one angel had free will why would they all not have free will. I believe that God created them with free will, just like us, because one must choose to love, or it is not real love. I suspect because the angels live in heaven, in the presence of God, there is not much to tempt them to choose evil. Satan, was the most beautiful of them, and pride and envy got the best of him. We also know the Bible talks of numerous demons. These have to be fallen angels like satan because there is no mention of another race of beings called demons, only angels, humans and animals were created alive by God. Sounds like free will to me.

The thing with free will is people have to have the right to make mistakes in order to learn what God's laws are. If you just tell people not to do certain things, they won't understand why they shouldn't.
