Windows 2000 can be installed on Drive D. It will NOT install on drive C as XP is a newer operating system, and Microsoft will NOT allow the downgrade easily. Only one operating system per dirve. You could of course format drive C. and install 2000.

Depending on how drive D is now formatted Windows 2000 can probably can be installed without formatting the drive and causing loss of data/files. During the installation you will be advised if D drive must be formatted, at that time you can either continue and lose your files or abort the 2000 installation.

Upon successful installation of 2000 you will be given the option when you start your computer as to which OS to boot to.

When you install Win2000, you get to choose on a blue screen which partition you want to choose to install to. As long as you choose the one thats D: (identify it by its SIZE as the installer might label the drives with different letters), then XP will not be removed and you will get a menu to choose on bootup.

All of the files in d: WILL be deleted, so move them to c: before you start
