A primary tenet of the Abrahamic faiths is "I am right, everyone else is wrong at best and evil at worst."

That's quite a generalisation to make. I'm not Christian but I have yet to meet a majority of Christians that are arrogant and patronising.
I think it all depends on your perspective on things. They most likely find atheists arrogant and patronising. It's because they have their belief and obviously think it is the right one, just like atheist do not think they are wrong about what they believe (or rather don't believe) and Jews and Muslims and Sikhs and so on. When people are confronted with strong different opinions they will most likely seem arrogant in the others' eyes.

I think that with the questions and answers that get tossed around on the R&S site - Christians get defensive.
Sounding arrogant and patronizing are common reactions when a person is feeling defensive when they think they are being "attacked".
I don't agree with you when you say that you have yet to read an answer from a christian that isn't arrogant and/or patronizing. I have read quite a few very civil posts from Christians to other people of all beliefs.
Are some Christians jerks? Yup. Are some of the other groups jerks? Yup. It goes both ways. Have a good day.

I'm not religious but I think you can be seriously deceived by the comments on here. The Christians, and other that come on here are here to prove a point. I know lots of Christians that would never do that. You get the pushy ones like you do with any belief :-) I have strong beliefs regarding the benefits or suffering of religion but I don't think you get a correct balance on here.

The same reason that some, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Taoists, Wiccans, agnostics and atheists are arrogant and patronising- Human Nature. I'm not particularly religious but even I can see how ignorant and Trollish your question is. Do you enjoy being deliberately antagonistic? show some tolerance eh?

I don't think we all are just most!LOL I think it is because those who behave this way are insecure about their own 'living of the faith' and fail to recognize that christianity is about love, compassion, and understanding and acceptance. Its not about force feeding others and assuming that you are so special that you know more than anyone else. This just makes them fools which is firmly warned about throughout the entire bible. So maybe it is because they can't remember that they are human full of faults and no better than anyone else. I am a Christian who believes she is lucky that God loves her and wants her to become wiser by acknowledging her faults and accepting others with the same grace that she was embraced with despite her being a pitiful excuse for a human being in her past.

Because the Christian belief teaches that they are superior than anyone else. Just read the history on this one, its everywhere. Heck, even the Pope said a few years ago that if you are not a Christian, then you go to hell. Period. If that's not arrogant, I don't know what is.

Because they have been led to believe they are superior to any who don't belive in god, or even those of another faith.
Of all the religions, christianity has by far the most holes in it, including moral ones...

Not all of us are. Christians are human too, so cut us some slack. Remember that there are thousands of Christian denominations all with varying beliefs. You are entitled to believe what ever you want, and no one should condemn you for it. If someone does, that's their problem, not yours.
