Who else thinks this is a good idea.
Basically they are saying that the level of violence, incest and rape in the bible makes it 'indecent' and that it will have to be shrink-wrapped and never sold or given to minors. Just like other forms of pornography.
I for one think this is a fine idea. The LAST think I would want my kids exposed to is the bible. Once they are old enough and mature enough, fine. But letting a kid read the bible is child abuse, plain and simple.
Here is the story;

Kitty,
Would you give your 7 year old a porn magazine?
Neither would I. There is censorship and then there is being responsible.
BIG difference.

Sorry, no I don't agree. I'm against censorship of any kind.
What about a warning label as a compromise? lol "This book is rated M for Mature"
Added: I have a 7 and 9 year old. If my kids were to ask if they could read the bible, I'd let them. I want them to make their own choice just as I have made mine.

TO THE CONTRARY! I think that the Bible has some horrifying stories in it BUT there is a lesson to be learned by ALL of the stories. But, like everything else in life you can learn from the stories or just read them so that you can have a reason to argue with believers. Regardless of your feelings about God or Christianity you have to admit that the Bible is a good morale example for everyone. Everyone seems to think that God and Christianity are all about everyone having a smile on their face all of the time, with only positive things to say & do and that everyhting has to be perfect all the time. That's not the case. The Bible is full of sad and disturbing stories because that's the only way God can get through to us. We all think that were so much smarter than him and we just don't get it. Yes, it would be an ideal World if we could take everything negative out of it. That is what makes the Bible so great, though. This nasty, ugly World isn't the end all. Our eternal life with God is!!!!!!

Are u aware that China have a population of over 1.3 billion & that the population of Hong Kong is over 6.9 million. In the link u posted the article said that 838 people called on authorities to classify the bible as obscene
838 people out of 1.3 billion.
And then in your question u say "like they will do in Hong Kong".
Arent u jumping the gun here?
By the way, in studies done, children who grow up going to church have been found to be more disciplined as they age than children who havent. From the time your children start going 2 school it is possible that they will become exposed 2 worse influences than the bible & just maybe, their knowledge of that book u call child abuse may just assist them in making the right decisions.

The Bible is a record. A lot of things recorded in the Bible is not acceptable behavior by God. However, the message is that our loving God is willing to rescue us from His own wrath, if we just let Him to. I thing the Bible is very very fascinating book, inspired Word of God, written by chosen people. : )
You have a free will. You can think of the Bible the way you please.I love study the Bible. : )

They do have Children's Bibles, you know. They cut out a lot of things, and instead focus on a core set of bible verses to study until they get old enough to understand the rest of it.

So you like fascist dictatorships?
Let's also ban Victoria's Secret adds on TV. The catalog as well. How abut the Abercrombie and Fitch catalog.
None of these things are acceptable to them.
Please, feel free to move out of the country and join those who are not allowed to think for themselves.
People like you never think about how the idea of banning anything can spin so out of control.

I think it is time for it to be revised, there is a lot of valuable history in it that should not be lost.
