Do you ever wonder why people wouldn't want this eternal life in heaven? What do you think personally are non believer's motives for not believing?

MONI "Some people want to go through life proving everything or disproving everything. All they have to do is believe, and it is sad because one day they are going to stand before God and He won't say well done because they denied Him"

What? These same people will save your life if you are ill. You are the poster girl for religion, you are exactly religion wants. 'All they have to do is believe' Dear me, a beautiful human mind gone to waste..

what are you talking about, some people don't want free education? So people would rather pay or do you mean people waste it? Really do not understand the relevance of that at all

Being a Christian has nothing to do with believing in God. Some of the most petty, spiteful and downright mean people I've ever met were Christians. I've also met some nice ones, but they seemed to be led around by the others. Being a Christian simply means that you believe in a convoluted mash up of books that were written 2000 years ago by people who were working for someone who wasn't even that involved in the things that were written. Jesus nor any of the apostles could read or write. Doesn't it strike you as odd that God didn't give him that one simple ability if he wanted people follow a book for the next 2 millenia. not to mention the number of times it has been translated before it became the book we know today. It's called The Greatest Story Ever Told and that's all it is a story. The only words worth believing, in my humble opinion, are the actual words of Jesus."Seek and ye shall find, knock and the door will be opened. The kingdom of heaven is within" That kind of stuff

at least Mohammed actually wrote the Qu'ran, not that I believe much of that crap either. Saints and sinners, we're all exactly where and what we need to be at any given moment. One day we will awaken as one in God's sweet embrace and none of this will have meant anything. For some this world is a dream and others it is a nightmare for most of us it's a bit of both. Like any other dream it only seems important until you wake up. Why does god let bad things happen to good people? I believe it's because it does not matter he knows we will awaken when the time is right and all will seem as it is. Perfect

Where are you getting your numbers? Some polls state 90% of people polled believe in God. Check this link out...apparently 16% of people don't believe in a God, 33% of the entire planet has Christian beliefs.

There are many people that don't want a free education, too. What motivates them to not want education? Probably the same reasons people do not want to burden their lives with theological issues. In some cases, it's not "fun". It interferes with what YOU want to do in life. It takes commitment. Discipline. Stuff like that.

"what are you talking about, some people don't want free education? So people would rather pay or do you mean people waste it? Really do not understand the relevance of that at all"

How can you miss a point that is stated directly after the statement? Education is generally considered a good thing. How could someone not want it? Here's where the "free" part comes in: they can't even complain that they have to pay for it, yet they compain and resist going to school nontheless. It happens every day. People take it for granted, people hate it, people don't take advantage or get involved with a "good thing". Not because it's bad, but because it requires a little more out of you than just drifting through life. Doing your own thing. Being disciplined. Making sacrifices. I mean, just read the paragraph you found so confusing again.

Personally, I think the notion of eternal life in heaven and a Jesus (the son of God, but really a man) just seems silly to some people. I think some people might believe it if they weren't too embarrassed to pursue it to discover the truth. Being raised in church all my life and also a Christian, I can't imagine any truth other than the truth of Christianity, but sometimes I wonder: If I was born in a country were Christianity was not preached and was not introduced to it as a child, would I believe in it. I think I would because I always feel God tugging at my heart, but you never know. Maybe it's easier for some people to ignore the voice than it is for others and I'm sure it's easier if you never hear it from the people around you and people around you mock it or don't believe in it. However, I really don't know how anyone can look at the world we live in and the absolute miracle and genius of the way everything works together so effortlessly and not see God. It has to be God. There is no way that our world could have been created by anything other than an all knowing, all powerful divine Creator. Good question.

Once I went with a group of Christians to try and witness to strangers on a street corner. Most of the people would stop and listen to the first part of the talk--about sin and it's consequences. The crowds were fascinated with the part about sin.

Then, the preacher would get to the part about turning from sin, to place your belief in Jesus, which is the way to eternal life. The crowds would almost completely clear out at that point. They could not get past the part about turning from sin. They could not let go of whatever idols were in their lives. They walked away with their dates and tried to forget about God.

Why?
1. An unwillingness to let go of the old lifestyle.
2. Everyone accepts them as nice people, so why ask God for forgiveness?
3. No one encourages them to think about it. There are enough distractions.
4. The Bible? What is that about?
5. Why do we ignore current events? No one wants to think about the reality that we are going to die, and heaven and hell are the two options. You make reservations now.

Just because I believe in God does not mean I don't understand their skepticism. I received proof of God because I diligently sought for it,with an open heart and an open mind.I don't blindly accept anything, and I question everything. What I may accept as truth may not be enough to convince someone else. It is something they must find on their own,but they have to be willing to admit the possibility of God in order to find the answers they seek. If their mind is completely shut off from that possibility, nothing anyone says or does is going to change their minds. The one thing I don't understand is why they can't acknowledge that God's existence could be a possibility. There is only one explanation I can conceive, and that is because they simply don't WANT God to be real for whatever personal reasons, and to me,that is being intellectually dishonest not only with us,but also with themselves.

It's not that it's not a nice fanciful story. Eternal life in heaven? Sounds great to me.

By all accounts, Jesus would be a great role model as he was quite a moral person. This would be true if Jesus was God, or if Jesus existed but wasn't God, or even if Jesus didn't exist at all.

The problem is that it is much easier to see how religion was created by humanity, than it is to see how God created humanity.

Why do you not believe in Odin, Zeus or the Flying Spaghetti Monster? There are plenty of gods that you don't believe in. What's so hard to imagine about atheists believing in one less God?

Well I can tell you why I don't believe in the Bible God. I refuse to believe that God would create an entire universe for the sole purpose of giving us a choice between Him and burning fire for eternity. And to get to Him we have to kiss His a** our whole lives, rather than do good deeds. I can understand the not murdering, stealing, raping (though there is a lot of rape in the Bible, as well as stealing and murdering) and getting rewarded for it in the afterlife, that's fine. That's not what the Bible suggests rather, it does suggest an insecure God who requires our love, as the love He got from His angels, was apparently not good enough after one, and only one turned on Him.

Not too mention of course the inconsistencies, and contradictions of the Bible itself. Now this doesn't mean I've ruled out a creator, just the Bible God, or really any God that has any direct current impact on Earth.

No, I don't wonder why so many don't believe in God-especially nowdays (which we are now in). Whether or not you want to admit it the Bible is a history book & it shows that we are in the last days. Get ready before it's too late! The Bible tells us in 2 Tim. 3:1-5 .....people will be lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. This is not a mystery to us or to God. I think people choose to not have a relationship with God because it goes against everything that the WORLD teaches us. Life as a Christian isn't a cake walk. Satan is the ruler over this World (for now) and he brings everything/everyone he can against you if you are a believer. We have to fight and rebuke and bind him everyday in every situation, with God's help and grace, of course . If youre not close to God your not a threat to Satan and his focus is not on you. Bottom line-living life in this World without a consciousness of eternal consequences is just easier!!

There is no "motive" for not believing.
It is purely a result of having a greater persepective of the world we all live in, and some of whome have a very narrow perspective, and can more easily embrace religion in the absence of further knowledge.

Once open to the idea of furthering ones comprehension of the natural world, the idea of religion will stifle the pursuit of knowledge for it's own agandas and MOTIVES..!!

Most people are blinded to the truth by Satan (Revelation 12:9), who is the temporary ruler of this world (Luke 4:6, 2 Corinthians 4:3-4).

Also, even those that believe are being mislead. For instance, most peoples hope is living forever on the earth after a future resurrection, and not eternal life in heaven (Acts 24:15, Psalms 37:29).

Revelation 12:9
So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth...

Luke 4:6
and the Devil said to him: “I will give you all this authority and the glory of them, because it has been delivered to me, and to whomever I wish I give it.

2 Corinthians 4:3-4
If, now, the good news we declare is in fact veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through.

Acts 24:15
and I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

Psalms 37:29
The righteous themselves will possess the earth,
And they will reside forever upon it.
