Just make sure that you fill that craving with things that are low in sugar. A lot of people will eat suckers, hard candy, chew gum, etc. and end up with a mouthful of cavities. So if you have to do those things to keep from smoking, at least choose things that are sugar-free!! I recommend either filling your craving with healthy foods, or arrange your schedule a little so that you aren't just sitting at home every night staring at the fridge. I've found that the distraction of being out doing other things (like exercising) really helps cut down on my urge to snack. Congrats on quitting! Good luck!

I have the same problem! Chewing gum helps me the most. It provides flavor and gives your mouth something to do. Also, water or fat-free milk will help you feel satisfied. BTW, are you hungry, bored or looking for a diversion? I tend to want to snack for reasons other than hunger. Take a good look at your reasoning and make sure your body is telling you it needs food instead of something psychological. Congratulations on stopping smoking!

chew gum
eat a big salad made of greens it is filling and only a few calories (just don't load it with dressing)
drink diet drinks or water to keep the full feeling

Why not just eat something that is good for you. Eating something light, and low in calories will actually boost your metabolism during your sleep and help you burn off some extra fat.

buy something like lolly pops to have instead of food. it will keep your mouth full so you cant eat anything else. or try to go to bed earlier so you wont be able to eat anything
