my throat doesnt hurt yet ... but feels like it could possibly be a tiny tiny bit irritated... Lymph nodes arent swollen, but my tonsils have gotten a tiny bit of a change ... Could this be the beginning of strep? My room mate is already about to be all better and has had it for about a week..

First of all, do you have a high fever? A high fever and a feeling of fatigue are the first sign of a bacterial infection. If so, have your roommate look down your throat with a flashlight to see if there are white bumps. If there are and you have a fever for a few days, call a doctor. They can do a rapid fast strep test that will know right away if you have a strep infection.

Streptococcus bacteria is also usually treated with a low spectrum antibiotic such as penicilin or amoxicillin. Some people are allergic to penicillin, so make sure you let your doctor know if you are.

A strep test takes like 5 minutes max to get done. Go to the doc at your school and have him give it to you. The instant one and the 24 hour test. If your roommate has it you will most likly get it if you 2 are close.

strep generally takes 48 to 72 hours to incubate, but, you don't know for sure when or if you could have contracted it from your roomie, could have been anytime in the past week.
When strep occurs in my home, I just get a prescription for everyone, and treat everyone. It spreads rather easily in households.
