"I think therefore I am", could be restated to say " I think, therefore I exist". Flaw in this statement is that if thinking is what you need to know that you exist, how would you know that you DON'T exist if you cannot think? And how do you know that you ARE thinking? There is no baseline to know that what you are experiencing is actual thought. (very heavy philosophy for online forum stuff)

The other statement you might be thinking of is from the bible (Exodus 3:14) (God says) "I am who I am . [Or I will be what I will be ] This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you."

What God is saying here is that He exists, has always existed and will always exist. He has no beginning, no creator, and no end. He is infinite. Only God has that claim to fame.

The phrase "I am" is the personal singular form of "is" (as in He is, she Is) You wouldn't say "I is" (unless you had bad grammar). And you wouldn't say "I be". "I am" indicates existance simply from being able to say "I am". No further explanation is necessary.

Does that help?

In quantum physics, there is no reality without an observer. Thought is required for existence. Crazy stuff!

Alive probably, Descartes is dead, God was never alive.

If you have no self-awareness, or thoughts, you might as well not be alive. If your brain is functioning and you can think, you can be assured that you are really here.
