Okay, here you go...if you don't have lens cleaner, warm water and a mild soap (dawn or joy for dishes), don't use any soaps with creams, skin softeners. Dry your lenses with a soft cotton cloth (No terry cloth towels). Make sure the towel HAS NOT been treated with fabric softener, otherwise it will look like you washed your glasses in vaseline. DO NOT use paper products. They are made from wood, and there may be wood fibers left in that can scratch your lenses.

DO NOT use Windex or any other harsh cleaner. The chemicals are strong enough to strip any coatings off the lenses.

According to a company that molds plastic lenses for eyeglasses there is a simple way that avoids scratching.

Get water running at moderate hot temperature and run it over the eyeglass lenses. Now put a drop of dish washing liquid on a wet lens and distribute it over the surfaces with a finger tip (without rubbing). Now put them back under the running water again to rinse off any detergent film. Shake off the excess water. Now either let the glasses dry by themselves or pat them dry with a lint-free cloth.

Don't rub them with a dry cloth or use any strong cleaning fluids.

I just got new glasses last week. The eye doctor saids to NEVER clean your glasses dry, and ALWAYS use a cotton cloth to dry them. She NEVER to use tissues, or paper towels because the wood fibers in the paper always scratches the lenses. Hope this helps and God bless you.

HELLO,
I'VE WORN GLASSES SINCE 16, A LONG, LONG TIME AGO THE FAST WAY IS TO SPRAY WITH WINDEX OR ANY OTHER STRONG, BUT NOT SCRATCHING LIQUID SPRAY CLEANSER AND TO WIPE THEM CLEAN AND DRY WITH A SOFT COTTON CLOTH.
THE OTHER WAY WHICH TAKES MORE TIME IS TO GO TO THE SINK AND PUT A DROP OF DISH-WASHING LIQUID ON THE LENS AND RUB IT BOTH SIDES ON BOTH LENSES, AND WASH BOTH SIDES CLEAN UNDER WARM RUNNING WATER. DRY WITH A CLEAN CLOTH.
FYI - NEVER USE PAPER TOWELS TO DRY YOUR LENSES, THEY CAN BECOME SCRATCHED.
