If you're "dying" of anorexia, then you've already lost all the weight you can afford to lose. Your doctors aren't lying to you. They don't want you to be fat either but they want you to be healthy. You can do this without be either fat or anorectic (yes, that's the correct word).

You need psychologic counseling to help correct your body image and discover why you are anorectic and, if you're truly dying, you also need in-patient care.

Hey listen,

You know that you are dying. You know that you have anorexia. All you need to do now is really not try and "rationalize" why or what your doctors are saying.

Your condition is like an addiction...it will be one of the hardest things to go through...and it is expected that you will have doubts and fears and so on. All you need to do is TRUST that you will be ok and that your doctors know what's right for you!

I have seen many teenage girls with your problem, and I can tell you that they do get better, but it is UP TO YOU! Your doctors can do very little if you are not willing to listen to them.

You have to work with your psychologist and your dietician and really ACCEPT the whole process of recovery. It is great that you are getting help already - THE EARLIER THE BETTER!

You need to work on LOVING your body in it's healthy state. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL no matter what...and you need to really understand that.

I know you will feel good again!

You have not mentioned your height and weight and this is crucial before I tell you to do something.

Anorexia is an eating disorder where people starve themselves. Anorexia usually begins in young people around the onset of puberty. Individuals suffering from anorexia have extreme weight loss. Weight loss is usually 15% below the person's normal body weight. People suffering from anorexia are very skinny but are convinced that they are overweight. Weight loss is obtained by many ways. Some of the common techniques used are excessive exercise, intake of laxatives and not eating.

Anorexics have an intense fear of becoming fat. Their dieting habits develop from this fear. Anorexia mainly affects adolescent girls.

People with anorexia continue to think they are overweight even after they become extremely thin, are very ill or near death. Often they will develop strange eating habits such as refusing to eat in front of other people. Sometimes the individuals will prepare big meals for others while refusing to eat any of it.

The disorder is thought to be most common among people of higher socioeconomic classes and people involved in activities where thinness is especially looked upon, such as dancing, theater, and distance running.

Treatment involves more than changing the person's eating habits. Anorexic patients often need counseling for a year or more so they can work on changing the feelings that are causing their eating problems. These feelings may be about their weight, their family problems or their problems with self-esteem. Some anorexic patients are helped by taking medicine that makes them feel less depressed. These medicines are prescribed by a doctor and are used along with counseling.

Supplementation with 14mg/day of zinc is recommended as routine treatment for anorexia nervosa due to a study showing a doubling of weight regain after treatment with zinc was began. The mechanism of action is hypothesized to be an increased effectiveness of neurotransmission in various parts of the brain, including the amygdala, after adequate zinc intake begins resulting in increased appetite.

omg pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I agree with the person who said you sound like an attention getter eat a piece of cake already! There are people in this world that are starving not by choice and you are doing it to yourself on purpose because of a vanity issue. You are only 14 you are destroying your health. I blame your parents and your peers because no 14 year old should feel that they need to starve themselves to lose weight it doesn't work. Check out weightwatchers online or something like that and get some psychiatric help! I'm surprised by your question that you have the strength to hit the keys to type the question. Who in their right mind would say "i try to listen to my docs but I feel like they are lying to me what if they want me to be fat" oh yeah thats it honey they want you to be obese! get a life!!!!!

This is the most selfish disease I can think of. For God's sake, do you honestly want to look like a lollipop? Is that pretty in your opinion?

Why would your doctors lie to you? They don't want you to be fat, they want you to be healthy.

Numbers don't lie. Maybe look at some charts for height and weight. People that are 5 feet tall "generally" should weigh around 100 lbs. So, for example, if you are over 5 feet tall and weigh less than 90 lbs. you are most likely TOO THIN.

Get over yourself and be healthy.

I really don't believe your doctors want you to be fat because being overweight is unhealthy. They probably just want to get you up to a healthy normal weight for your size.

What is so bad about gaining some weight? I was a thin girl in my youth and never felt like people would take me seriously. I was happy when I finally put on a little weight so I didn't have to feel like a little kid any more.

Best wishes to you dear! Just concentrate on being healthy and fit and your weight will take care of itself.

I think that you need to eat because you will die
the question is do you won't to die?
if i was you i would get some meat on my bones
it alright being skinny
but not to skinny
i am about 112 pounds
and i am happy being like that
do you know that docs are telling the Truth
because if you don't eat then you will die and be in the ground
just think about your life !
before you think about being skinny as bones
Do you want to have a life ?
Do you want to have a kid when you grow up?
do you ever think about the life your losing ?
knowing you dead and your life is gone
these are the questions you need to ask yourself
is it you are anorexia ?

I really hate to hurt your feelings, but you really need to get in to see a psychiatrist. If you are dying of anorexia, then YOU ARE NOT FAT. Listen to the doctors. They are not lying to you. You are being really paranoid. I highly recommend you ask your doctor to refer you to a therapist.

No doctor wants people to be fat. Thats the other extreme.
They want people to weigh in the normal range for their height.
How tall are you?
Do you want to die? What's not worth living for?
Why not take a chance and try ?

You need to ask yourself do you want to be skinny and dead, or alive. If you die due to this you will miss out on driving, prom, graduation, college parties, etc. Your way to young to die. Besides guys like girls with a little meat on there bones. Imagine cuddling with your boyfriend and everytime you move a bone jabs into him, not real hot.
