That question has two answers:
For the true boxing fan, this weekend two upcoming middle weights go head to head. Edison Miranda (28-1, 24KOs) vs. Kelly Pavlik (30-0, 27KOs). The winner will most likely get a shot at Jermaine Taylor's 160lbs tittle. This is going to be a good fight, both fighters are brawlers and both deserve a shot at Taylor.
For the casual fan, it'll be a while before a big event comes by. There's great fights coming up but none with the famous names. Maybe if De la Hoya and Mayweahter do it again.
I was reading some of your responses and there's only one heavyweight fight out there that will be big or even bigger than the Mayweather/DelaHoya fight. The Klitschko brothers, but unfortunately that fight will never happen unless they break their promise they made to their mom. Too bad

It will be a very long time for anything even close to the Mayweather vs. De La Hoya hype,if ever, but if your true boxing fan then there is some young boxers who will make for good fights. This summer there is a very intriguing fight between Ricky Hatton and Jose Luis Castillo that should be great. Castillo in my opinion is the only guy that has even come close to beating Mayweather Jr. and many thought he actually did win that fight. Ricky Hatton is an English fighter who beat Kosta Tszyu so bad he made him retire and before their fight no one had come even close to beating Tszyu. Besides that there is some great fighters still like Miguel Cotto, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Marquez brothers, Barrera, Pacquiao, and many others, so if your a true boxing fan the quality of fights is out there but mainly in the middleweight division and under. The glory days of the heavyweight division are over and will not be coming back unless they make another weight class. After 190 lbs it is open weight so in my opinion if they cut off the limit to at least 220 lbs it would make for better boxing matches and a very exciting weight class. The way it is now all we see are overweight fighters trying to land a lucky punch.

I like Roy Jones Jr, but he has lost 3 out of his last 4 fights. His best days our behind him. In addition to that, Taylor will probably fight Joe Calzaghe in his next big fight. At the moment, boxing's next biggest match maybe a rematch between Oscar de la Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Regardless of his age and skill level, DLH is the biggest draw in boxing. Mayweather is beginning to cement his startdom in boxing. If Mayweather does not retire, he may have some big fights ahead of him going against Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, or Antonio Margarito. Unfortunately for boxing, Mayweather is not the most exciting fighter. Exciting fighters like Manny Pacquiao or Juan Manuel Marquez don't get the publicity that they deserve. It looks like boxing's most exciting fights are outside of the heavyweight division.

The next big match is probably going to be the light heavyweight or middle weight. delahoya needs to decide if he wants to retire with a win or with 35 milliion. if he fights any body besides mayweather trinidad or mosley hes going to take a huge pay cut. either calzaghe vs taylor or roy vs taylor. if taylor takes out spinks the worlds eyes will be on taylor. there is a lot of uprising prospects in the welterweight division but not like the middle weight light heavy weight. you have to look at like this delahoya mayweather taylor wright trinidad all the guys or middle weight. middle weight division is rising. the heavy divisons does have the potential to rise again they just need a bad guy. i feel that samuel peter can fit the discription if he takes the role. there or many great heavy weights right now they dont have a guy to beat. the most feard prospects right now is peter and klithsko. and klithsko acts to sweet to be a bad guy. THEY NEED A FEARSOME FIGHTER ONE WHO TALKS BAD TO HIS OPPONENTS LIKE IRON MIKE DID SO WELL.

Shane Mosley , Paul Williams , or Sergio Martinez would be large recommendations for him. anybody bigger ranked or bigger names than the three i merely named would be extraordinarily unrealistic like him combating Floyd or Manny back is out of the question. i individually despise cory spinks so i dont want Cotto to combat him. Berto is likewise a solid selection such as you pronounced so i'd upload his call to the 1st 3 i discussed. I merely wanna see if Cotto is unquestionably a greater useful/stronger fighter and to boot that Cotto isn't in a lifeless combat he's thrilling to observe. i'd merely want to work out him in the ring next with somebody who a minimum of has a real hazard at hurting him no longer yet another feather fisted fighter like Foreman or Spinks. in the event that they dont wanna push Cotto too speedy too quickly after in basic terms having a million comeback combat, they are able to place him in with somebody who hits slightly greater solid yet is probably no longer considered elite or large like possibly Cintron or Angulo to apply as a measuring persist with see how his chin holds up against men like that and how we do against between the greater useful warring parties in those weight instructions.

the next big match would be either pacquiao vs barrera, or pacquiao vs marquez. Pacman vs barrera is most likely because it would bring more money, but i think marquez vs pacman would be better because they drawed in the first fight and it was a real competitive fight, except for the first round. It would probably be at featherweight, or junior lightweight.

There is going to be a few coming up in the next 2 years.
Roy Jones and Jermain Taylor are going to fight after Taylor beats Spinks coming up. They have kept it on the DL because Hopkins wants a "rubber match" with Taylor, but Taylor doesn't want to fight him for the third time. Roy wants to fight Taylor then after he beats him, he wants to fight Hopkins then retire. Are you sensing I'm a RJJ fan or what!? :)
