Hi everyone, I am from HK.
Just b4, about 1500 complaints about the Bible have been received by Hong Kong's anti-porn watchdog after a website said the holy book was full of stories of rape, incest and violence. Those compaints were raised from some anti-christ persons. So far, HK government still didn't response to those complains yet.
They complained, for example, Lot slept with his daugthers in Genesis, Levite's concubine was given to the gangs, and raped, lastly the dead body was splited into 12 parts (Judges 19), etc.
The anti-christ persons said these scenes written in the bible are absolutely immoral, violent and bloody. Also, they said Bible is not suitable for children and it must be sold to those who over 18 with sealed packing and warning message.
I would like to ask, is it frequent for this one happened in your countries?
Do you think this complain is reasonable? absurd?
By estimation, how will your government handle this if it happened?
pls share yr pts, thx a lot

I wouldn't worry about the complaints. Never, has anyone been able to suppress any literature even when penalty could be applied.
They'd have to ban news papers and books that contain the same type of stories. The stories in the bible do not go into any detail. Some news papers report more details so they would also have to be banned.
Maybe putting labels that hide the Bible like porn mags would enhance it's sales because it seems people would rather buy things that are taboo rather than legitimate material.
Don't worry. Even if it's harder to get, you'll always see access because God himself will see to it.

I think their complaints are valid. I think (at least the old testament, which is flawed) should be X-rated because of the verbal images it presents.
You always see the Bible presented as an innocent innocuous book, placed in the hands of an innocent little girl. Such a benign picture. But this "good" book subliminally teaches attitude. It teaches the male to be arrogant (male supremacy), and teaches the female that "God" has no regard for her whatsoever. Shouldn't it be the female who cries - My God - Why have you forsaken me? Why do females have such low self esteem? Why is there so much domestic violence? Why is there things like Feticide (aborting the female gender, in preference for the male)?
These attitudes all come from that "benign" little book, and the devils that support it and teach these attitudes (male supremacy, and subjugation of the female gender) that go out, and into all the world. Why have women come into the modern century having to fight to be called more than sub-humans? We have the bible to thank for that too.
The bible put out streams of death fire towards women - its not that innocent. I think Hong Kong is taking a step in the right direction.
Our Canadian Government is to self absorbed, and can't see past their own noses.

Coming from a Communist Country, this should be expected.
What their government does with these accusations will be interesting to learn.
While we think it is preposterous, it is just another way to show how Christians and Biblical Christianity are persecuted in China.
This the reason why Bibles must be smuggled into China. Religious persecution is rampant there.

I can see why they'd be upset. There is a lot of violence in the bible. In some countries, they're more sensitive about violence than the United States is. There's no way a Christian can say that the bible isn't violent without throwing away the Old Testament, and parts of the New Testament.

This does not surprise me, Christ and his followers have been persecuted since he was walking the earth!
It only going to get worse(Sudan, & China are indicators),Gods word warns of this! "They will hate you for my namesake" J.C.! I'd like to thank some of those above for making this point clear!!
The US will ban Gods Word when someone like hillary gains power, and decide it's politicaly correct!!
note to phillis.... BITE ME!
JESUS CHRIST IS THE SAVIOR AND NOTHING(not nonbelief, or ridicule)CAN EVER CHANGE THIS FACT(YES I SAID FACT), IT WILL BE PLAIN AT THE JUDGEMENT!!

Apparently america is a "christian nation" built on "christian morals" so unfortunately they probably wouldn't take complaints like this seriously. I personally don't believe in censoring or banning books but I think that since they do it they should not change the rules just because it's someone's holy book.

absurd,
Are they that strict with mens magazines and romance novels?
Peace!
Seems Odd that a country with Legal Prostitution and famous red light districts would chose to be so strict with the Bible.
I think that there is another reason behind this.

I think all bible should be wrapped and packaged with a warning label:
"This book is pornographic, full of sex, violence, killing, hatred, rape, war, mass murder, an angry, hateful god, and threats to make you follow him else you get an eternity in hell or wyoming. It's users want to you to believe the non-scientific cult nonsense herein, and reading it could be bad for your (mental) health. Brainwashing and extreme egotistical/self-important/narcissistic behavior can result."
