when a guy that has always been afraid of saying the "L" word, because of what his ex-wfie did to him, tells a girl that he has strong feelings for her and wants to say just how strong they are but cant bring himself to say it. what does that exactly mean?

Tell him to go ahead and use the "L" word and you'll stand way back until it's over. If he tells you that you're not being serious, tell him to listen to himself or look in the mirror. Forget the ex, it's over. Good luck. lol.

That he is in love with you, and is not ready to officially come right out and say it. This person has there own baggage they are dealing with. Try not to press the issue of them telling you so much, and reassure them that you are not the ex, and how much you truly feel for them. This could be comforting for this person and will eventually open up. If not then you'll have to decide if this person is worth waiting for or not.

He's scared of admitting his feeling out loud because he would be opening himself to being hurt again. Have you told him you love him? You might consider that. Just do whatever you can to show him you are a different person and your relationship is special and you're not going to hurt him in the same way. He'll be able to say it eventually I'm sure.

He's hiding behind his "lack of words" because he is too much of a wimp to tell the truth: which is that while he likes you, he doesn't love you enough to say so.
