I'd try to find out what your teacher's opinions are on the subject, and just feed those back to him/her.
Most teachers will give you a lower grade if its something that, in their mind, they are constantly disagreeing with.

I think you need to understand American politics are very superficial and all about power and money not necessarily actually helping people or a cause. It's a lot easier to cast doubt or ignore an urgent situation than actually admit a problem exist. If you admit a problem exist than a leader is called upon to do something about it and of course that cost money. Which is why Ronald Reagan pulled that tree comment of his. Hence some of the other posts about Global warming is a natural cycle, mankind is innocent and a bunch of tree huggers are just making noise. When the invetible happens it's generally too late and a band-aid just won't cut it. I think you're seeing this effect now with the melting ice caps, severe tornadoes and storms. Now the typical response is to vote a different set in but the politics will remain the same because folks don't want to take their leaders to task. The other problem is Americans want their cake and eat it too. So they continue to buy the big gas guzzlers and expect the politicans who are owned by the energy and auto companies to do something about the public's bad habits when thanks to large political contributors and lobbyist they have virtually no incentive to do anything.
The other trick politicians pull is to look like they're doing something but really not do anything at the same time. That's how you end up with bills that never pass because they always have some unrelated crap tacked on that they know will never pass. Of course that becomes fodder for the next election. You know the drill: "I tried to pass legislation but the president vetoed it or congress wouldn't pass it. What they negelect to tell you is attached to the bill is some stupid item such as: a bridge to nowhere or tax breaks for one eyed one legged pig farmers in a small Iowa town. That is why no one will address an important issue until it's too late or if they do it's something way out in the future like social security. However I wouldn't be surprised if all our elected officials have farm land in the interior of the country away from both coast and dumped their California and New York real estate. They may not tell you but they know Global warming is real and where the safe places are. Hell if they could get off the planet I'm sure they would. They're not stupid but they think you are.

Global warming ( how I see it ) is when the caps of the north and south pole melt causing the water level to rise immensely covering places that are lower like florida this MAY OR MAYNOT occur during global warming when the hot places turn cold and visa versa
have you ever heard about the mamoth that was discovered from the ice age w/ the food still preserved in his stomach which means it must have gotten pretty cold pretty quick and he was eating a tropical flower? U ask how could this be because when the flower was in his stomach meaning he must not have eaten it that long ago everything just flipped and turned cold could that happened w/ global warming? we may never know!
Here are some websites that will tell you all about global warming good luck on ur report!

President Bush and Tony Blair were just on TV talking about the seriousness of Global Warming (Thrus May 16th AM)
Global warming natural, but not at this rate. We should be entering an ice age right now, in the last 20 years human emissions have reversed it and are making it exponentially worse each year.
Check out this recent United Nations for your report: Should put all debate to rest.

The earth's temperature is cyclical. It is 7/10's of 1% higher than it was 100 years ago. 30 years ago the people "in the know" told us to beware because the earth was cooling and we were going to enter an ice age. We didn't and there is no way all the garbage Al Gore is spouting is going to happen. If you fill a glass of water with ice and the ice melts, does the glass overflow? No, because the ice displaced the water. The same is true of iceburgs. Remember, Al Gore is just another politician trying to grab the front pages of the newspapers and I think it's a disgrace that his word is taken as indisputable truth.

http://profend.com/global-warming - no opinions but lots of facts.
My own opinion based on 23 years of working in the field is that it's very much happening and that the current warming trend is primarily human induced but with an element of natural warming as well.
The above site has quotes from the major oil companies on this page - http://profend.com/global-warming/pages/questions.html#6 all of them acknowledging the problem of global warming. The page has links back to the oil companies websites so you can verify authenticity.

Its a known fact that the earth goes through hot periods and cold periods. The last ice age was one of its cold periods and now were heading for one of its hot periods .
Physically the earth should gradually cool down so im not sure and I think its very questionable that it is the depletion of the ozone layer that is responsible as in the last ice age there were no records on ozone . it might restore itself during the next ice age?

Assuming you're a young student who has yet to marry and have children of your own - or be blessed with many beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren, allow me to ask you a question:
When those wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren look into you eyes and ask, "WHY, Grandma...WHY did you choose to squander all of Earth's precious resources?"
WHAT WILL YOUR ANSWER BE???
In the past 150 years, since the beginning of our great industrial revolution, this world has ignored the delicate balances between man, plants and animals. We have allowed smoke-belching factories and vehicle emissions to pollute our air and waterways. We have refused to REuse, REduce, and REcycle, choosing instead to simply toss all our trash into landfills where - instead of it decomposing - it will eventually leach toxic poisons into our groundwater.
Global warming is a cyclical event, but our industrial revolution and human hoi polloi has wreaked havoc on the natural order of things. WE WILL be responsible for the premature demise of the polar bear and isolated Eskimo tribes. WE WILL be responsible for the polar ice caps melting, causing both coasts of both major oceans to be subjected to horrendous flooding, tornadoes and powerful hurricanes that will destroy our civilization.
And when your great-grandchildren have to wear gas masks in order to breathe fresh air, or can't find enough clean drinking water, HOW are you going to respond to their accusations when they KNOW it was YOUR generation that squandered it all? -RKO- 05/17/07
