A terrorist is a member of a small otherwise powerless radical fringe group that commits small random violent home-grown attacks, kidnappings, bombings and murder, in an effort to force policy change by inducing fear in the populace, who will then petition the government to give in to the terrorist demands. They are not defending "their country," they are defending an alternative radical agenda.

George Washington wasn't a terrorist because the entire populace of the 13 Colonies was of a like mind, they all voted, they all were represented, they all agreed. Neither is the US Army. Neither are the Israelites, today. Previously they were a guerrilla army invading settled lands.

A country can't be a terrorist country, it can only be so unruly, so out of control, that various factions, no different than Mexican drug gangs, vie for control, there, and in the chaos various groups can use the country as a base to train, arm and send actual terrorists to other countries to push their agenda there like "Al Queda". Whether they really believe what they preach or whether it's about power, control, money and riches, is difficult to determine, but it's probably a little of both?

Shiites and Sunis in Iraq are more like guerrilla fighters than terrorists. Our invasion just took out the biggest faction, resulting in the other groups now fighting for control. It's a civil war I suppose, and all we're doing there is trying to stop the fighting.

A "terrorist" is someone who either: (a) indiscriminately kills anyone who just so happens to be around without any attempt to discriminate between the harmless and the dangerous; or, (b) deliberately targets innocent & harmless people just to make a point.

How is it "defending your country" if you are blowing up a school bus full of children, for example? Were these children going to attack you? Likewise, setting off a bomb at a restaurant or a mall, killing shoppers, seems to be simple murder, not self defense. Were the women at the clothing store buying bras to shoot rocks at you? I don't think so. Al Qaeda, for example, has killed just as many Muslims as they have killed anyone else (think about the bombings in Africa), and Osama bin Laden says that he doesn't care. Who is he defending? How can he be defending Islam if he kills other Muslims and doesn't care?

Some people have suggested that "collateral damage" is the same thing as terrorism, but I disagree. Collateral damage implies that one was aiming at a real threat (like a missile that was going to be fired at you), but accidentally missed and hit a hospital instead (probably because someone deliberately placed the missile on the hospital -- using it as a human shield). An accident is not the same thing as simply not caring who lives or who dies.

Americans are terrified of all people from the middle east, therefor they are all terroists. :-)~

seriously though, terrorism is a scare tactict, fear is the victory. The Oklahoma City bombing isn't a good example of terrorism, people around the country were not scared to go to work the next day, week, month, or year.
9/11 on the other hand has to be the most successful act of terrorism ever. 6 years later and everyone is still scared.

Terrorists actually applies fear and terror, by using 'suicide bombers' to certain places to avenge for their fanatical beliefs, to wipe out people who are not the same religion as the terrorists.

Yes, the Americans and Isralies do anything to protect their country, is by eliminate terrorists off.
Again, there is a great history behind American soldiers at war, same for Israel soldiers. If two countries made enemies, it's their fault.

I would say it's the terrorists who killed innocent lives over religion or revenge, what they did for the Twin Towers...They knew what they were doing!

Anyone got a better idea to debate?

For a simple, obvious answer... terrorists don't wear uniforms. They hide among the civilian citizens like cowards. Terrorists drive trucks with bombs and aiplanes into buildings and boats with bombs into ships. They attack innocent people in the name of their god, just because the people don't believe in them. there is no war there.

your soldiers are such COWARDS that they will not fight against other soldiers -- only against unarmed people

that is what makes you jihadists such SCUM

come out in the open and stand your ground. fight like men against men.

You and your kind never will. That is why the world DESPISES you and your cause.
