this is a variable answer. to help you understand i am going to use an acre as the measure I want to define. let's look at the linear square feet of an acre. the formula taken from "to Seka" is sq. measurement unit only . 1 hect. =100km^2. in other words if you are measuring length. the true value of linear measurement depends on the height of the acre. this is 2 dimensional. If you are looking for a 1 dimensional answer than you would look at the square feet as a measurement and not a linear form of measurement.

It could be 1,385,964 feet by 1 inch.
Or 1 inch by 1,385,964 feet.
Or anything in between.

115,497 tiles each of 1' wide x 1' LONG, laid edge to edge in a single row will stretch a distance of 115,497 linear feet.
(Thinking of making a 1 foot wide footpath somewhere 21.9 miles away ???)

I don't believe you can measure lineal ft from sq ft, if you don't have the other factors in the equation, like how wide?
