NENA and HENRY are morons, if the answers you gave were developed through sobriety please give me a joint. Let me help clarify something for you the question is hypothetical. And please, I challenge anyone to show me a study that proves any of the suggested life long problems that either of you so eloquently listed.

Now my opinion on the question asked is that the illegalization of marijuana is something that politicians can fall back on during campaigns. They can show the number of people put behind bars and it makes the public think they are tough on crime. The government won't go for it just because they can't figure out how to keep the public from growing it on their back porch, which makes it hard to bring in tax dollars. But I think your on to something maybe if big tobacco starts lobbying they might pull it off but doubtful. And who wants them to get in the mix they will just find a way to make it deadly and more expensive.

1. Because Marijuana does have harmful affects (and you see how bad they are getting hauled in by tobacco)

2. Marijuana can be grown almost anywhere and it would seriously affect their bottom line as soon as upstart companies in California and Wyoming started muscling in.

3. The tobacco industry isn't the only ones that would lose if marijuana was legalized. The cotton industry would take a big hit. As would the myriad makers of alcohol.

the tobacco industry wouldnt have anything to do with it first off...they make millions of cigs so i dont think they would start promoting marijuana(it doesnt kill millions every year)...

i've heard this same question before...the government would probly be the ones in charge of that marijuana thing if it were legal...but if it were legal, do you know how many stores would pop up...and yes the taxes would be insane...im sure you'll probly pay double what you pay now for a 20 sack of weed...if you pay anything...(gotta watch whats said)...

i think they should legalize the medicinal use of marijuana...its pretty stupid when each state has a law regarding medical marijuana and here comes big brother to say its still illegal...

state and federal should remain state and federal...know what i mean?

i had to edit my answer a bit...im acually adding on to some comments i saw posted...

i have alot of friends that smoke and i can honestly say they're not slow or retarded or anything else...maybe your friends are weak minded...

you can make alcohol with Marijuana leaves, Hemp for clothing, ropes, fibers...

and trust me...im not going to smoke any tobacco companies joints...im sure the tobacco company would add something to the weed...if they dont, the government will...

well i really dont think marjuana will hurt clothing companies...thats kinda like saying jumping out the window is gonna help me fly...its not realistic since the clothing companies already use cotton...no one will make the switch from cotton to marijuana...

i think the only reason to make marijuana legal is to just enjoy it outside without anyone saying anything and of course for the medicinal purposes...other people out there arent going to drop their pills to pick up the pipe either...its something that really has to be studied further and examined more closer...

It would violently upset the current power structure. RJReynolds currently dominates the world of tobacco. If pot became legal, there's nothing guaranteeing that Marlboro brand weed would be the most popular brand... in fact, it's pretty unlikely. It would seriously empower lots of young upstart brands and weaken monopolies.

Because anyone can grow it fairly easily. Much easier than tobacco. Tobacco would lose a lot of business to Mary Jane.

They are getting enough slack for just selling tobacco, just imagine how much crap they would get for selling marijuana, let alone lobby to legalize it. That would be taking it too far. Everyone has their limits. Yes, even tobacco companies.

Is it possible that the legalization of pot would threaten many of the prescription medications that are currently being sold? What about other industries such as clothing and rope and other things?

They may be running around doing exactly that at this very moment. They probably have researched the implications and are sharing them with friendly tax-hungry politicians right now.

no because the government make the most money from tobacco, and the reason why pot is so dear is because it is illeagal making it rare, if it were as abundant as tobacco the prices would drop dramatically as the manufacturers outbid each other for market domination
