Actually, a dolphin can be quite a dangerous animal to people. There have been attacks. They can be playful, however, they are still wild animals. You have to be careful because you never can tell what a wild animal will do.

I'll try to make this short. I signed up to swim w/ dolphins. Very expensive. It is something I have always wanted to do. The day came (in Hawaii on Oahu at the sea life park) and I couldn't wait. We got there, went through the do;s and don'ts and video and went out to swim. I bought the extra special package where you could be in deep water w/ them and get a dorsil fin ride etc. We waited and waited and waited and found out that they had - just the day before - introduced 2 new females that were in heat and the male, who was supposed to swim with us would not leave his "holding area" and was being so aggressive with the females that it would be dangerous so we had to "eat" the money (over $300) we spent and go home without the experience of swiming with dolpins. Sad isn't it? They said that they have no control over mother nature but I said that if they advertise this then they should deliver and not use whales in heat or whales that want to be with others in heat.Don't you think I have a valid point?

I was swimming off the beach in Pensacola FL, in the Gulf of Mexico. I had been very sick for quite some time and was so weak I stumbled walking into the surf. But it doesn't take much strength to swim, so I swam way out away from the shore. I was floating on my back when I felt something nudging my foot. It was a wild dolphin, and he continued to nudge me for about a minute. Then he swam away. Did he know how sick I had been and was checking to see if I was alright? Who knows? But that encounter made me want to get well. It was really spiritual to me.

They kill porpoises for fun and the males harass and try and have sex with every female they can The reality doesn't reflect their cuddly image.
