No because you shouldnt feel you're better than him just because you are a cheerleader. If he makes you happy thats all that matters. Maybe you feel weird because of what others will think. And thats not right...dont play games with peoples feelings. If you like him, then like him, but if you dont it would be best to just leave having a relationship with him alone, because people have feelings and its not good to lead someone on to something you are not really into...good luck. I remember this one guy I thought was a nerd all thru grade school, but as we got closer to graduation in high school, I was so attracted to him...yea he was still geeky, but in a sexy way. Had a nice car (which doesnt really matter to me), but he just kept hisself up. And was cute at the same time....I would have dated him and wouldnt have cared what people thought. Geeks turn out to be the better ones after high school and college. And only because they were always put down to be worthless

If you really love him, then why should it matter what other people think, and why does it matter that you are a cheerleader and he is a nerd?
It is what is on the inside that counts, not your cheerleader uniform, or the fact that your boyfriend is a so called "nerd", do people know that you are dating? Or do you keep it a secret, since you are afraid your reputation might be ruined?

No way! Be proud you're dating him. You obviously wouldn't be seeing him if you didn't like him. Dumping him because he's perceived as a nerd would be really shallow. I bet he's really intelligent. Maybe he's embarrassed about dating a cheerleader. He might be really hurt if he thought you were thinking like this.

Its all about your feelings, if you like him, date him. judging by superficial means is a high school thing. Don't worry what others think. You may even give some other people the confidence to go after the ones they never thought they could.

Ah, the joys of peer pressure;)
Honestly, he is much more likely to treat you they way you deserve than the more 'normal' guys your friends think you should be with.
Also in the long run, a 'nerdy' guy is likely to get a better job with better pay than a 'jock'. If stability is something you worry about he is probably going to be more stable than average.
Of course this may mean watching him dress up as Mr. Spock for a trekkie convention... no one's perfect;)

As long as you like him, why should it matter that you're a cheerleader and he's a nerd?

Are you happy>
That is the first question. do you both enjoy one another.
Do you want to be together.
If it is going well and you both are excited by the other, do not worry about his nerd.
He can work on his clothing, style and presentation.
If he likes you -- loves you -- he will change.
You will both change and compromise that is what it is all about.
And do not worry about what your petty jealous friends say about him. They resent your joy.
