They believe Jesus returned invisibly in 1874. You can read about it directly from a JW publication here:
http://blueletterbible.org/study/cults/exposejw/expose16.pdf
The final battle was to be fought in 1914:
http://blueletterbible.org/study/cults/exposejw/expose15.pdf
And this is how they explained away their false prophesies:

The Jehovah's Witnesses do not speak for God; otherwise, it would be impossible for them to be incorrect. Was Isaiah ever wrong? Did Ezekiel speak anything that was partially correct? Would Daniel have lied, as the WBTS does? No, no and no.
EDIT: "Achtung Heiss," you are incorrect about Rev. 6:2. The one on the white horse wears a "stephanos" (reward) crown -- proving he CANNOT be Jesus, who only wears a "diadema" (royal) crown. Also, he carries a bow, not a sword, as Jesus does. The horseman of Rev. 6:2 is the Antichrist.

I don't know about two second comings, but I know that Jesus is coming soon because the bible prophesised, that the stars will fall from the sky, it happened in the 1800's. There will be false prophets and people claiming to be Jesus, happening right now, rumors of wars, were in the middle of an war (that is pointless now it seems-- why do they still have the troops over seas)

From JW literature we read: "Our Lord, the appointed King, is now present, since October 1874" (The Battle of Armageddon 1897 ed. p621). Until 1930 Jesus' second presence was still stated to have occurred invisibly in 1874: "The Scriptural proof is that the second presence of the Lord Jesus Christ began in 1874 A.D." (Prophecy, 1929, pp64,65) This was gradually dropped and, instead, he was said to have come invisibly in 1914 (Vindication, 1931, p338).
The Bible states that Jesus must return again, in glory, with the angels, before the separating of the sheep from the goats begins (Mat 25:31-34). In 1931 the Watchtower Society declared that this separating work was already in progress and this belief continued till the late 1900s. Because they said Jesus had come again, invisibly, in 1914, they taught that their preaching work was helping accomplish this separation. But they admitted in 1995 that the separating of the sheep from the goats had not begun and would happen at some unknown future date (Watchtower 15 Oct 1995). Unsurprisingly, they spoke less and less about Jesus' invisible 'presence' in 1914 but because this is their foundational doctrine, they dare not drop it entirely. Now they say Jesus is to come again - possibly VISIBLY - in the near future, then the separating will begin.
So although you are unlikely to get any JW admitting here that they believe in THREE 'presences' of Jesus on earth, until they admit the 1914 invisible presence is wrong, that is exactly what they believe. New JWs don't see the problem because they don't understand the significance of the 1914 ideas. Old JWs know exactly what's wrong but dare not admit publicly to the need to drop the 1914 invisible 'presence' doctrine.

Most (not all) christian religions believe there will be a second coming. But JW's, (due to literal and mathematical reasoning) came up with a specific date. When that date came and went nothing happened. The explanation is the Jesus is a spirit and humans can't see spirits. Sounds like a cop out to me, after all if he did come what was his purpose? Why "come" and do nothing? Not even say "I'm Here". Doesn't sound like Christ does it?
Don't get me wrong, I respect them. They have a strong faith. But some of their practices don't make much sense to me. But every religion has concepts that are like that.

The bible never uses the term "second coming" even one time, so it is disingenuous to suggest it should occur two times.
The Greek word which some bibles translate as "coming" is more accurately translated as "presence". If the so-called "first coming of Christ" lasted some 33 years, would it be reasonable to expect the so-called "second coming" to be of a shorter duration?
What might occur DURING such a "coming" or "return" or "presence" of Christ? The bible tells its readers.
1. Jesus takes his heavenly throne, ousting Satan from heaven.
(Revelation 12:7-10) And war broke out in heaven...So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ
2. Jesus rules "in the midst of his enemies" while the composite "sign" of Matthew chapter 24 and Luke chapter 21 unfolds for sincere Christians to observe.
(Psalm 110:1-2) The utterance of Jehovah to my Lord [Jesus] is: “Sit at my right hand Until I place your enemies as a stool for your feet.” The rod of your strength Jehovah will send out of Zion, saying: “Go subduing in the midst of your enemies.”
3. Jesus completes his conquest over Satan and Satanic agents, at Armageddon.
(Revelation 6:2) [Jesus] went forth conquering and to complete his conquest.
(Revelation 19:19-20:3) [Anti-God] armies gathered together to wage the war with the one seated on the horse and with his army. ...the rest were killed off with the long sword of the one seated on the horse... And [Jesus] seized the dragon, the original serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. And he hurled him into the abyss
