I recently decided I should go to England to visit a friend for three weeks. I am 24 years old, live in the USA and have never left the country before. I will be traveling alone. I'm suddenly really really nervous and am having doubts about the trip. I am scheduled to leave this Monday!! I thought it would be good for me but now I am realizing I might be making a mistake. Any insight or opinions will really help me. I need to decide by this Saturday morning in order to get a credit on the airfare. Thanks :)

You should go, travel is one of the true pleasures in life. It expands your knowledge and understanding of the world and make you a better person because of it. Once you start traveling, you will never look back. Please go, you will have a great time I promise. If you get back and didn't have fun, send me a nasty message as I will gladly accept it.

Don't worry about traveling alone, people do it all the time (including women). England is a very good starting point for this. It's fun, safe and easy to get around (even if they do speak funny LOL).

Good luck and have fun.

Go to England, or perhaps I should say come to England as I'm an American who has lived here for 5 years now.

There's nothing at all about travelling here that you can't cope with.

They speak English, obviously
The currency though different works in exactly the same way as you are used to.
It's a base unit of 100...like 100 cents make a dollar well 100 pence make a pound.
Of course you have to learn to recognise the different coins and notes but just take your time.

There's loads to see and do here....stuff you'd never get to see back in the States.
The weather can sometimes be a little variable but don't believe all the stories you hear about it always raining.....it can be nice here for days at a time.
In fact the last couple of days it's rained and that's the first we've had for a while.
The plus side is that rain makes the place really green.

Even driving is not as hard as you might imagine....stick shifts are common yes and of course they drive on the left but hey!...if I can do it anyone can.
I even have a British driver's license now and I can tell you the test was tougher than any I've ever taken in the US.

Downsides?.......The traffic is busy, though that depends where you are from I guess. Compared to what I was used to I find it busy.
The exchange rate isn't good at the moment but that isn't their fault, it's just the way it goes.

And I've never had any problems with being an American here.....the English have always treated me just fine.

Sure go- it would be nice to get to see other countries.

That ofcourse if you do not have any big problems stopping you from going there.
