I have heard that counting calories works best. But I have also heard that 6 smaller meals a day works best. Which one do you think is best? I'm not sure which one I should stick to. The small meals makes me feel like Im over eating too much and the calorie counting is hard since I dont know how many calories are in everything I eat. Advice please?

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Actually, you should do both. You need to eat several small meals a day to keep your metabolism up & make sure that you keep the calories you eat in check. If you need help with figuering out how many calories you eat , try going onto a site like fitday.com or sparkspeople.com. Both sites let you search the food you eat & keep track of the caloric intake.

Also, when they say a "meal" (in the 5 or 6 meals a day thing) it doesn't have to be anything big.......a handful of almonds, a yogurt or a protein shake can count as a "meal". You just need to consume something every few hours.

Can only speak for me and what I do. I am following the South Beach Plan, have lost 35 lbs in 4 months. I eat 5-6 times a day, smaller meals though. I also do resistence training several times a week. You really need to research several plans to see what you can stick to. Also, be patient. You should lose 2-4 lbs a week. You have to eat healthily, no fad diets and no skipping meals.

Try this.

Eat only when hungy and that too not more than three times a day. Include fruits and uncooked vegetables in ur diet. Take no liquid or solid food in between other than water. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will create a system of messaging by which u will know when u r hungry or when full.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will get all the motivation to stick to this pattern within a short period and u will achieve what u have always considered to be ur goal.
