For five nights in the past month there has been a knock on my front door. It goes: knock, knock...pause...then again knock knock but faster.
When i answer the door no one is there. But i can smell my wife's perfume.

No, she's not trying to contact you. Do you know how I know? You gave it away in the first sentence; she's dead.

It is possible. It is also possible that some other entity is trying to contact you, and make you believe it is your wife.

Most souls move on after a short while, and four months is a long time for your wife's spirit to hang around.

You need to let her know you are OK, she can move on, and let her go. I can't design the ritual for you, but I'm sure it would involve her favorite perfume, and probably some other things which were important to her, and a picture of her. Light a white candle and tell her not to be afraid, you are all right and she will be all right.

No, she is dead and cannot contact you. Someone else here asked if some else were with you when this happened. A good point, and I think they wouldn't hear anything. The other possibility is that you are dreaming. After my father died (just too early in life) I for many years dreamed about him as coming back and talking to me, but now I no longer have such dreams. So you should understand that these things you experience is something that happens within your own brain. That's my bet.

No. I'm sorry you lost your wife but that is your mind wanting her to contact you. No need to follow it into insanity.

no, i don't think she is trying to visit you. i would think that if she were really trying to contact you that she would make it out so you wouldn't be wondering and would know for sure. i'm sorry about your loss though

I'm very sorry for your loss. Perhaps your mind is playing tricks on you. Has anyone been with you when this has happened?
