Faith is a kind of hope, because Faith is what makes it possible to have hope. Without faith there is nothing to hope for. You must believe something is possible before you can hope for it. In order to truly hope for something you must believe in the truth of it. Faith, hope and truth are all tied together.

Faith is a total belief that you arrive at after much questioning and searching and thinking. This is different than guessing, because guessing implies no knowledge of the available information and is random.

Once you arrive at this total belief in something that you cannot see or touch or otherwise verify scientifically, you have FAITH.

How are truth and hope and faith different? Well, that is hard. I believe that there are many truths. For example, it is a truth that abortion is legal in this country and many others, however I do not believe in it, so my truth is that this law is immoral and abortion is murder. I hope that it is done away with in my lifetime. Others hope that it remains legal. So, truths and hopes can vary. Faith does not. Faith is an absolute that never changes because it does not require actions to exist. On the other hand, if by truthiness you mean an absolute truth such as God exists, than that truth would be defined as something in which we have faith.

a) faith is the belief IN your guess, or that your guess is correct or more probable.

b) i'd say that faith and hope are almost synonymous with the exception that there is usually more belief (or basis) for faith than there is for hope. example - you hope that your puppy will be cured of cancer(not likely) vs. you have faith in your dog to win the fetch competition (more likely because you had so much training)

c) truthiness - not really a word, i think you meant truthfulness
faith is the hope that you are correct in your beliefs

if that makes sense

a) guessing means you're not sure, but you're going to answer anyway... faith means you 'know' you're sure, you just don't have proof.

b) hope and faith are essentially identical and easily interchangable in our vocabulary, unless you're religious. Then you like to think that faith requires more than hope, but can't define faith in a way that separates it from hope.

c) truthiness was voted word of the year... faith has never had that honor.

Guessing is a mental activity. Those faithfull may guess about things concerning their religion but it does not provide a foundation for their beliefs.

Hope like guessing is a mental activity that is selective and may be a secondary affect of having faith. You have faith and you hope that you are being truthfull to your faith.

Truthfulness is facing up to reality. With increased material wealth, freedom, education and choice there is also factually an increase in alcoholism, drug abuse, divorce and teen age suicide. That is the truth. If you turn into yourself and examine yourself truthfully and deeply you find that there is an animal inside you from which the human being came. It doesn't relate to material wealth, it doesn't understand the intellectual and educated world we are in. But it does relate to something very deep inside us that connects with something far greater than yourself. Some call it God, Spirit or the living universe. You have to be truthfull to yourself to be aware of it and brave enough to realize material values don't hit the spot as many famous people sadly demonstrate.

hope is the expectation of faith. guessing is a 50-50 chance (like drawing lots or flipping a coin unless it is an educated guess). truthfulness has to do with current circumstances that might be different from your hope of faith. that uneasy feeling in the middle is frustration that has to be dealt with or it will mess up your entire equation. if we live without hope or faith we would never get anywhere and the circumstances of life would toss us around and eventually flush us down the toilet... make sure your hope and faith don't have anything to do with the destruction of others or it will come back on you in one way or another...

Ignorance is when someone refuses to believe something that's right in front of their face, while faith is the ability to believe in something for which there is no proof. And for many, it's difficult to tell the difference, because so many people can't explain why they have faith, which leads to people assuming that they have blind faith, which is kind of ignorant.

Faith is a much needed component of our relationship that we have both with God, and any other close person like a spouse or parent that we have in life.

I like to compare faith to trust. We have faith that when our father says is holding us when we are riding a bike, that we can have faith or trust that he isnt going to let us fall.

We have faith that when we marry, our wives arent going live up to their vows and not cheat on us or forsake us.

When we accept Jesus as Lord and savior and enter into that covenant (agreement) with him, we have faith that he can both bring salvation, and give us direction, purpose, and guidance in our lives.

I think faith revolves around trusted loving relationships and is an essential component. Without faith, we have no trust or hope in much anything.

Faith vs. guessing: not much. Neither would be carved in stone, both could be potentially correct.

Faith vs. Hope: Faith you believe without a doubt. Hope is really wnating something to be, wihtout necessarily believing it whole heartedly.

Faith vs. Truthfulness: faith is a belief. Some very skinny girls really honestly think they are fat. the truth is theyre skinny.

Truthiness?

FAITH is believing in what cannot be proved, knowing it cannot and trusting and believing anyway.
