Hey, sorry to hear about your dog having a seizure. My dog started having seizures 3 years ago. He was 1 1/2 years old when they started which is almost always caused by epilepsy when they start at that age. I knew he was healthy and chose not to do the brain scan and only did thyroid check and liver check which was a little less costly than what most vets recommend you do. I didn't do the brain scan because if he'd had a tumor I wouldn't have let him suffer with it anyway so why bother having the scan. Vets will try to "sell" you on a lot of stuff because they need to rule things out, but you know your dog and if you do some research you'll see the things that can cause seizures and use that in determining what tests YOU want for your dog. My dog's fine now. He's on anti-seizure meds and hasn't had one in 6 months. Good luck!

Most specialist won't take your pet unless you have referral from your vet.

Open an account with CareCredit at least you can make monthly payments. It's like a credit card and most vet clinic and vet special hospitals and emergency vet accept the card. Another option is finding out if a certain facility would make payment arrangements with you. You might want to transfer your pet there.

should nt really breed if you cant afford for a c section when they have problems whelping we put them in the situation where they are pregnant most of the time they have the pups ok on their own and people make a small fortune from selling pups to homes they havent even checked properly but as pet owners we are responsible for their vet bills and cheap vets probably mean lower quality of service and lower level of care
guess depends on how much you feel your dog is worth to you

Any Humane Society will see her if she is fixed. You should start keeping a chart as well at what times she has them if she starts having more than just that 1. It can turn into something really serious like with me mu puppy ended up having distemper and i had to put him down his ceszurs were uncontrollable. but they do have medications that usually work such as: dizapam, phenobarbital.

dont take it anywhere else but your vet, other places may not be liscenced or trained properly, the responsbilities of having a pet are paying for their health, like having a kid....

you are probably looking at a cost of exam, blood work and meds....shouldn't be that bad and it is the cost of keeping your dog alive and healthy. how much is that worth?
